A few of them rock n' roll rituals... `Double Live Gonzo!' has been called on of the greats of that time period and while a agree Ted was an amazing live performer in his late 70's heyday (before he jettisoned his first and best band) I think the record could have been better in certain spots. Ted Nugent by early 1978 had become a rock superstar so it was only fitting that he release a double live record to capitalize on his status. There were two new, unrecorded songs of varying quality, "Yank Me Crank Me" and "Gonzo" and also three songs from the Amboy Dukes era, one of which is a ridiculously long guitar solo which is flat out boring ("Hibernation"? zzzzzzzzzzz). Why no songs from `Free-for All'? Man that would have been awesome as the reissue of that album proves there were superb live versions of "Free-for-All" and "Dog Eat Dog" available. This may seem like I'm ripping the album but I love most of it. "Great White Buffalo" is great and the one two punch of "Stormtroopin'" and "Stranglehold" is outstanding. . . not a note is wasted! "Just What the Doctor Ordered" and "Cat Scratch Fever" are also well represented here as well as Ted's trademark stage rapping which is very profane and comical. I also wish there were more Derek St. Holmes songs (his trading off with Ted on lead guitar on "Stranglehold" is fantastic, another added bonus!). `Double Live Gonzo!' represents the height of Ted Nugent's career, a height he wouldn't see again.
GONZO
growing up in the 70's this was one of the live albums you could not be caught without. ted's at his best live and outragous.

Gonzo BABY!!!
Bought it again on CD because this Nugent work is fantastic. Have this album as a kid and I loved it. Great White Buffalo and StrangleHold are worth the album alone. Nugent shows that he has alot of talent and can really rip the guitar. This album is raw, heavy and quality! A MUST GET!!.
