Sleek Women Behind Every Door/Cost More Than You Got
" If there was ever an aptly named album, "Free for All, is the one! Here, Ted takes his great "Ted Nugent" album, & cranks it up two frets! This sharp toothed crocodile just rocks my world, with killer songs like the gigantic "Dog Eat Dog," a monster from the Nuge if there ever was one! The titular song "Free for All," with its incessantly catchy rhythm guitar! "Writing on the Wall,"& its mountainous thick soaring leads, a real heavyweight out of many heavyweights here. 5 Stars = Masterpiece

In 1976 Ted released what is his heaviest album (next to "Craveman) in the 70's," "Free For All. "Turn it up," yeah; the song title says it all! The beautiful "Together," a ballad Ted did not want on the album, but I'm sure as hell glad it's there! "Hammer Down," another song that is aptly titled! Last, & maybe least "I Loved You So I told you a Lie," still potent Nuge, but it seemed to lose a little focus. The album also featured on some songs the fine voice of one Meatloaf, which was a plus.

"Free for All" may be my favorite Ted album. It sure is the dark horse of his three immortal masterpieces of the 70's, "Ted Nugent," "Free For All," & "Cat Scratch Fever. " It is an album that still shakes my ear wax loose today, & hey, that's a good thing (I think), & the album is. . . well. . . IMMORTAL!

Another barn burner
2 other tracks that kick butt are Turn it Up and Hammerdown (vocals by Meat Loaf). Ted's follow up to his 1975 solo debut is equally just as good, includes the 2 most popular tracks still played to this day in concert, Free-For-All and Dod Eat Dog. Another solid slab of guitar driven rock.

Retro Metal
(That's a good thing) Compared to today's European metal sound, it sounds kind of simplistic, but Ted always was straight ahead rock. A good album to listen to when I want to get nostalgic about high school. Classic early Ted.

free for all
as meat does the vocals on several tracks. its a good ted nugent album but it an even better find for the meatloaf fan. any meatloaf music (pre bat out of hell) on cd is next to imposible to find . this is good 70's stuff right on par with the stoney and meatloaf album not avliable on cd.

great Nugent album - maybe even his best (IMHO)
At one time, though, he was a fine rock musician and put out several really great albums. Ted Nugent is probably known more these days for his (very) conservative, outspoken, and somewhat psychotic approach to politics than his music.

This is one of his greatest albums, maybe even his best! I like every song on the album except maybe "Together". My favorite tracks are "Dog Eat Dog", "Hammer Down", and "Light my Way". These have a really crunching bass line that I really like. The vocal are by Derek St. Holmes, unlike many of Nugent's later albums, and I like St. Holmes' voice.

The only other Nugent albums I would really heartily recommend are "Double Live Gonzo" and "Cat Scratch Fever". The others are OK - some of the newer ones I haven't heard, but the three mentioned here are his best.
