BUY THIS ALONG WITH HIS "DECADES OF DESTRUCTION" (1973 & 1974 WITH
THE AMBOY DUKES) AND YOU WILL TRULY HAVE THE VERY BEST OF TED !!!. THIS IS ,BY FAR, TED'S BEST COLLECTION YET AND IT ENCOMPASSES
WHAT I FEEL ARE TED'S BEST WORKS FROM 1975-1980.
A Trio That Even a Caveman Will Enjoy
The five albums lean heavily on his best material, with Ted Nugent (1975) being a vastly underrated mid-1970s rock gem. After the Amboy Dukes, Ted Nugent had two distinct periods in his solo career; where the music really mattered and then where his cartoon character persona took center stage. Free-for-All (1976, which features the vocals of Meat Loaf) and Cat Scratch Fever (1977) propelled Nugent onto the A-list of arena rock and summer festival performers.
But his limitations as a songwriter and singer began to show on Weekend Warriors (1978) and Scream Dream (1980), with style rumbling over any semblance of substance as "Nugent the Showman" took the guise of a modern day caveman armed with heavy guitar riffs.
Each CD comes in a mini-LP sleeve, with the original artwork and liner notes. It is part of an ongoing series of mostly rock and jazz performers that are available at (mostly) a very reasonable price.
In the case of this collection, the 1975-1977 period contain the essential albums by Nugent, which ultimately are a nice helping of the hard rock sound for a major era in pop music.
