Ignore The Bad Reviews And Buy This CD
This CD holds up a lot better than the average Poison or Motley Crue CD from the late 80s because for all the slick production, Nugent never totally lost sight of his roots in 70s metal bands such as the James Gang and Grand Funk Railroad and Southern rockers like the Allman Brothers Band, the Outlaws, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. IF YOU CAN'T LICK 'EM LICK 'EM proves that claims that Ted Nugent "lost it" artistically between 1980 and 1990 are false and misleading. The songs here may be glossy-sounding, yet the Motor City Madman's maniacal energy always shines through right where it's needed, and his pro-law-enforcement attitude always adds a ton of meat to what would sound hollow and empty coming from a band like Motley Crue or Ratt. Nugent's support of police use of deadly force to rescue two girls kidnapped in California in 2002 also makes this album more worth buying in retrospect than, say, Motley Crue's GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS or Ratt's REACH FOR THE SKY.
