Buy it for the second disc


This new edition uses, as far as I can tell, the same masters as did the previous Beggar's Banquet CD (BBL 10 CD, UPC 607618001025); if you have that older release, the main attraction of this one will be the demos and alternate mixes included on the second disc. The album itself really needs little description -- it's excellent, groundbreaking work, and every music fan should have a copy. These comprise almost a complete demo version of the album: there's no demo of "Tracks" included, but there are two demos of "Conversation" to make up for it. (And "Tracks" is one of the songs included in alternate-mix form, along with "M. E. ". )

That said, I'd still recommend checking out the BBL 10 CD edition if you don't already have the album: I think the live tracks included with that release are a bit more interesting than the demos on this one. Me, I'm a completist and happy to have both.


Bravo! This is how to remaster!
From the hit song Cars to the lesser known tracks this album has never grown tired for me. This album has always been a favorite of mine. The bonus material is absolutely awesome. I particularly am enjoying the demo version of Cars.

The sonics/mastering are wonderful. I don't detect any hard limiting at all, nor do I hear any use of noise reduction or excessive EQing. Numan's vocals truly come to life in this remaster and it trounces previous CD issues. The sonics are much improved over the original CD issue of this album and I highly recommend you upgrade. .
