dig out your soul cd/dvd

i recommend this for any true oasis fan. This is a great cd and dvd from the band oasis.

WOW Oasis is back and raise the bar again!
Oasis have really matured and have raised the bar with their new album. Dig out your soul is an album made by masterful muscians. This album is the most modern sounding Oasis album. Upon frequent listens the sound texture is truly remarkable.
'Bag it up' uses very rythmic power chords and ambiguous psychedelic lyrics that let you interpret the meaning in many differnt ways.
'The Turning' is easly the best song on the album. It has such powerful religious imagery and a melody that reminds anyone who might have forgoten why Noel Gallagher is a master of melody.
'Waiting for the Rapture' is a Noel sung song. It uses a heavy guitar riff under some very personal lyrics about a love that 'picked him off the ground' that put him in a 'trance'. A very Heavy short tune.
'The Shock of the Lighning' is a song that just explodes with energy and pounds away with unrelenting passion. This is a highlight for sure.
'I'm outta time' was written by Liam and fits very nicely after some heavy tunes prior. The song has a tranquil feeling to it and features some of Liam's best ever vocals on it.
'Get off you high horse lady' is a Noel written and song track. The song really kicks in nicely at the 1:40 mark. Noel uses vocal effects to mask his voice a bit. Even though one might consider this a weak track it is supremely catchy. I find myself singing this blusy melody often.
'Falling down' is next track and WoW. Sung by Noel this tune is completly different for Oasis. They really use the texture of piano and drums to create a captivating soundscape. This along with the lyrics makes one feel lost in space. The lyrics are incredible by the way. "I tried to talked with god to no avail'. Powerful stuff in my opinion.
'To be where there's life' was written by Gem. The groovy bass line really pushes this song forward. Oasis used no guitar in this track to see if "they could get away with it". One could almost not tell that there's no guitar on it because the song is just so powerful and electric in sound intensity.
'Ain't got nothing' was written by Liam and is very short but rocks its butt off. The drums once again are immense. This song is about Liam's time in jail after a fight a few years back and one can almost hear the cop siren's in the backround.
'The nature of reality' written by Andy Bell has a wonderful guitar riff that slices your brain open. The lyrics are some of the best on the album and fits together with some of the religious themes on the album.
'Soldier on' written by Liam uses echoing effects on the lyrics in the verse. That adds to the hypnotic feeling to the tune. The 'Na Na Na' part is very peaceful to my ears. The song ends by repeating 'Soldier On' in a very trippy marching way. All in all the song makes one feel a little braver strapping on their boots and stepping out into the cold world.
Dig out your soul is easly the best album of the year. Oasis really put alot of effort and love in creating this modern day masterpiece. Do yourself a favor a buy this NOW. You will not be disappointed. . . . . . 'And all in good time'!.

Better when it was called "Don't Believe the Truth"
As Noel himself said, there aren't any singles on this album. Another great effort by Oasis, but it's a continuation of the same sound we got from Don't Believe the Truth. Unfortunately, that means there's no "Champagne Supernovas" "Don't Look Back in Angers" or any other songs with great hooks.

That isn't to say this isn't a good album, it's just not great.

Check out: Bag It Up, The Shock of Lightning, and I'm Outta Time.

Refreshed Without Losing the Essence

From venezuela:

A pretty good record, new melodies, good lyrics from the band, a good show of good music

The DVD shows how much they have grown as a band, exploring instruments and sounds . . stages of pre-and post-production of the disc, and additional sites, among them we see that the disc was recorded at Abbey Road, you know what I mean . . . that you enjoy . . .

oh! a last detail: the presentation of the disc is in cardboard, much like a book. (very good) .
