Britpop sunshine Oasis
And while "Cast No Shadow" fit with my expectations for the album, the rest broke free: they're shiny (embarrassingly Beatles-ish candypop "She's Electric"), they're sweet (bitterly so: rock with the hulking "Morning Glory"), they're catchy ("Roll with It"), and most of the time they're sincere. Yeah, it's self-conscious, yeah, it takes itself seriously to the point of pretention, and yes, I arrived at it prepared to recognize another overhyped mesh of faux-messianic Nineties whine-rock--but when younger brother Liam Gallagher coughs, "I think I've got a feeling I've lost inside," he sounds sincere. Just to throw in my few pennies about the Contest of the Singles, I'd trust a "Wonderwall" supporter over a "Champagne Supernova" fan most days of the week. And I'd trust anyone who recognizes the futile misdirection of the album as its greatest strength much more than I'd trust any of the thousands of airheaded "Q" subscribers who voted this charmingly-flawed delight the 2nd best album in British history.

Not a fan of Oasis
This was a gift for my girlfriend and she loved it. I'm not a fan of Oasis. Altough I don't like the style of Oasis there are great songs like Wonderwall. There are some strange songs as well, like "Hello" and the song without name. All by all, this was a good buy.

Best album of the 1990's
Brit Pop Rules. . . . Thank God this album ended the unspeakable grundge "movement". . . . Also. . . no album since is even close.

Way to go Oasis. .

(What's The Story) Morning Glory
The album itself did quite well and peaked at #1 both in the UK and Australia. (What's The Story) Morning Glory being Oasis 2nd studio album and their 1995 release contained such hits as "Wonderwall", "Champagne Supernova" and "Morning Glory". All the lyrics are easy to read, we get a list of whom plays what. The photos are of poor quality and look like they were shot by friends. 5/5.

One of the best the 90's had to offer.
1 million in sales in the UK, 6 million in the rest of the world, but only a million or so of that in the US.
The debut album by Oasis was a worldwide success - 2. The follow up was a whole different story altogether - 23+ million worldwide with over 4 million in each of the US and the UK (3rd best selling LP of all time there). For most fans the next five releases haven't come close to reaching the great heights of these first two. Accordingly, I thought that I'd give them each a re-listen in order to see how they've stood up to the passage of a decade and a half.

First off, the obvious, the 23 million who bought this cd weren't wrong - this is a spectacularly good album. One brilliantly infectious song follows another for about forty exciting minutes. Wonderwall, Don't look Back in Anger, Hey Now!, Some Might Say, Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova - each song possesses the kind of quality that by itself would form the cornerstone of any other cd. Indeed, as I listen I have to remind myself that I'm not listening to a greatest hits collection.

In the music biz it is unusual for an artist to begin a career with a really first class record and then surpass that effort with the follow-up. It was fourteen years ago that Oasis hit the ground running with their debut, Definitely Maybe. A year later the band delivered its sophomore effort, (What's the Story) Morning Glory. They are both five star offerings. The relative mediocrity of the other cds in their catalogue should not in any way diminish the greatness of their earlier music. If, like me, you have allowed these cds to sit on the shelf, unplayed, for the last decade, I'd suggest that you clean of the dust and give them a spin. You will be rewarded with some of the best music of the past twenty years.
