back to basics death metal 102
this is real solid metal no more experiment trials by fire / stick to what work brutal force riffs and landslide sound in double bass. this takes them back to 93 after the end complete this sound like it should have follow that great cd not 12 years later. extremly groovin guitar riffs and pure obituary style songs back to basics.

they are NOW back from the dead!!!!!!!!
this sound as if it was frozen in time say 1994/ this should have followed the end complete! brutal tunes and plenty of tone in the mix not bassed out. This is the best death metal cd I bought in years I gave up on this sceane years ago but this is well worth the wait. this is a total mustr have for obituary fans. if it ain't broke keep recording new cds don't try to fix it like don't care(great cd but they lost momentum with it )by trying to expanding they're style. everything between don't care and this dosen't exsist!I presonally like this better than the new one (exocutioners return I give it a 9 only because of the mix and sound blur)
frozen in time is FIT excellent cd!.

How can you go wrong?
It further confirmed my love for Florida death metal and this is some of the best that my beloved state can provide. It was 4 am in the morning when I first heard Donald Tardy's menacing growl and I know I would never be the same. There is no better theme music to set Daytona speedway car crashes to. I want it all. . . body parts flying everywhere, blood spattered windshields, and bystanders screaming at the horror of it all. The air is so thick with fear that even the arriving ambulance's lights can't cut through it. .

Average but normal Obituary
I really do. I like Obituary. The only thing holding them back is the same songs over and over. This sounds very similar to "The End Complete", production and all. Allen West's solos have gotten downright BORING. I don't think he has any talent at playing lead.

The one saving grace about this album is that Trevor Peres can come up with pretty decent riffs. They aren't the best; however, they get the job done. The drumming is normal for Donald Tardy, nothing spectacular, yet, nothing underwhelming either. The vocals are even more distinguishible.

I don't hate this album, I just had higher expectations of it. If you like Obituary, get it. If you are trying to get into them, get "Cause of Death" instead.

Ben Stubbs is Mental
I just heard this new album by obituary and I was more then apt to dismiss it. . as I have found the last few obituary releases to be less then inspired. . . However the time off apparently did them good because this album blasts. . . that is all there is to it folks. If you like old school death metal, then this is for you. I noticed that Ben Stubbs review of this album has him him saying "blah blah they should try something new blah blah". . . well to a point I agree. . some death metal bands do get stuck in a rut. . but I think he is missing the point. Fans want to hear obituary, not some band who used to be obituary. They have a definitive sound that not only turned me on to death metal but what I have missed in the "new breed" death metal that is out now. Uninspired, people just screaming with no real feeling. . . When Tardy screams you get the feeling that his emotions are involved and that he doesnt take this lightly. . that is what I like about the band. . . If you want something new Ben listen to any one of a million new bands and keep your trap shut about this legendary band. . This album is worth the buy. .
