A band and album for music lovers, not only metal heads.
It has every musical sound I could ever want in a band, from jazzy blues, to "kill yourself in the pit" thrash. I had never heard of Opeth until this album. I was totally amazed at how, in one song, beauty can become a beast and back again. There is one song, though, written and sung in their native language. I don't understand the words but it is a slow acoustic beautiful song, a far cry from The Lotus Eater. I'm used to thrash and typical death metal, but this does not disappoint. It is actually refreshing, if that term can be used in regard to "death" metal growls. Every song is a keeper. IMO, this is one of the finest metal bands to come out of Europe. Buy it and enjoy it. .


Great Progressive/Death Metal!
I like the mix of soft, progressive, and heavy that they so beautifully give in there music. This is my first CD of Opeth and I have to say I'm really impressed! I'm not really one for the Death "growl" of these bands and I'm starting to get use to it. They are all excellent musician's and I hope they continue to give us great music!!!.


Love me some Opeth
This album has a ultimate opeth feel to it, way more clean vocals than the death growls but I have always loved mike for his emotional singing. I would suggest getting the album with the three extra covers, very well done on mike's part. This album does have a dark feel to it just like they said they would do. I'm very excited about this album I see alot of days listening to it, Opeth has 9 studio Albums and this is the great 9th one, all albums are equally creative and addictive. It's Opeth you have to get it.
