Warpurgis
I believe this is the only legal release of this rare track. That's the only reason I bought this Album. I like the old school raw sound of it too. Actually, most of the modern tracks I don't like, so I gave 4 stars for Warpurgis alone.


quality Ozzy
In fact, today I STILL dig the 4-track equipment used to create those songs. I originally wanted this CD because I was a HUGE Black Sabbath fan 6 years ago and the demo versions of the songs "Black Sabbath" and "War Pigs" really interested me. They sound muddy, but wonderful and spooky. Great trick or treat music! Just so you know, the quality of those two songs aren't anywhere near the quality of the versions released on their debut and Paranoid albums. If you enjoy Black Sabbath to an extreme level, you'll find yourself very interested in them, though. In a way, the demo version of "Black Sabbath" is better than the normal version we've heard a thousand times.

However, as the years went by I began to love Ozzy's solo career just as much. Many of his big hits are included here, but that doesn't really matter because Ozzy had a pretty spectacular solo career and just about ANY of his songs are good hard rock/heavy metal music, whether they were big hits or not. Ok, except for the ballads. But hey, I've always liked Ozzy ballads. The one here is really good, too.

With this disc you get a nice collection of songs. I think you'll find many of these songs continue to be enjoyable for many years. .


I Don't Wanna Change Your Opinions But...
He has sung in Black Sabbath 10 years and 20 years solo. Ozzy Osbourne has a long carriere. How good can one CD capture it? The album starts with two Black Sabbath classics. . . actually they are old basement recordings: "Black Sabbath" and "War Pigs". There's a great represention some of the albums. . . they have really chosen the best songs from some albums. I think "Mr. Crowley", "Crazy Train", "Over the Mountain", "Bark at the Moon", "Shot in the Dark", "No More Tears", "I Don't Want to Change the World", "Mama, I'm Coming Home" are excellent choices. "Crazy Babies" is a strange choice. "Miracle Man" was one his live classics, so I would prefer to it. Also "I Just Want You"? "Perry Mason" is an all-time classic, why isn't it here? "Goodbye to Romance" was Ozzy's first solo song, a kind of farewell song to Black Sabbath. It's not a good one but it had to be included here. "Paranoid" and "I Don't Want to Change the World" are great live versions. They are fast and powerful! The new song "Back on Earth" is kind of creepy one. I think it is one of the best songs Ozzy has ever sung.

Good introduction to Ozzy


"The Ozzman Cometh" delivers a good collection of hits, and also includes an unnecessary bonus track, the previously unreleased synthesizer-fest "Back On Earth". This compilation is too expensive when compared to the double-disc "Essential Ozzy Osbourne", but the casual fan who is looking for the cream of the crop should be satisfied by these 15 tracks which span Ozzy's entire career. . . that one could have been omitted in favour of one or two of the Ozzy-classics which are missing.
But most of the must-have Ozzy Osbourne-numbers are here, from early hits like "Crazy Train" and "Mr Crowley" to latter-day MTV smashes like "Mama I'm Coming Home".
Those who want more should seek out "The Essential Ozzy Osbourne", and the inclusion of two Black Sabbath-tracks seems kind of pointless (especially when neither of them are the group's only real hit single, "Paranoid"). But "The Ozzman Cometh" still comes through for the curious or the casual listener who just wants Ozzy's best-known songs.
