A Masterpiece
Even with all the little narrations taken out, this album could stand up against the greatest rock albums of the modern era. The best disc by one of the best bands in Canada. Challenging, catchy, every song is incredible. I listened to the album to death, and never got tired of it. A standing ovation.

Great CD
Although it is hard for me to pick a "favourite" OLP album, I can easily say that this CD is among the top. I am a big fan of OLP and I own all 5 CDs.

In my opinion, Naveed sounds similar to Clumsy, Happiness sounds similar to Spiritual Machines, and don't even get me started on Gravity (if interested, see my review of Gravity). But they all (with the exception of Gravity) have a collective sound that we all know as Our Lady Peace. When you go from Naveed to Gravity, you're going from one extreme to another. But in the middle, you've got Spiritual Machines, which is a mix of the sounds, and it sounds great.

My favourite songs off this album are. . . well, all of them are great. But if I were to pick my favourites they would be In Repair, Everyone's a Junkie, Are You Sad, and If You Believe.

Don't be intimidated by the RKs. Despite what other people may say, they DO NOT interrupt the flow of the CD. If you don't like them, just skip past them.

Overall, a great CD, I definitely recommend buying it.

Awesome CD
From a lyrical perspective, the music is deep, and evokes emotion and thought. This is the best CD by Our Lady Peace. From a musical stand point, IT ROCKS! This guy isn't afraid to sing, and get into it. It has the perfect balance of hard alternative rock, and a soft lyrical side.

Giving hard-working Canadians a good name!
These guys are tirelessly looking to change mainstream rock 'n roll for the better by releasing album after album of impressive music. What a surprise to have another album right off the coattails of the fabulous 'Happiness if Not a Fish You Can Catch' and 'Clumsy'. While the underlying message of 'Spiritual Machines' is interesting, it is far from a concept album. There is little connection between the evolution of technology and the music, other than author Ray Kurzweil giving an unusual timeline of computer intelligence. However, the saving grace of Our Lady Peace, as in every other album they have written, is the very strong combination of voice, music and lyrics. All musicians involved are incredibly talented and give this album enough content that they could ditch the philisophical aspects and still have a great recording.

Also check out 'Clumsy' and 'Gravity' which concentrate more on individual songs.

Our Lady Peace Maturing?
Unlike all of the introspective self indulgence of their previous album, and the sort of boring murmur of Happiness. . , Spiritual Machines tackles much broader psycho-social issues. Raine's voice soars in that cringing, beautiful falsetto. While the guitar riffs sound more thoughtfull. This shouldn't be your first OLP album, but your second for sure!.
