Best of The Outfield Their music is timeless as were a lot of the bands back then. Nothing brings back the 80s like The Outfield. I used to think they were a "One Hit Wonder" band, but after re-listening to "Play Deep", I just had to hear everything they recorded. Great album (CD)! I couldn't find them anywhere till I went to Amazon. com. I ordered "Big Innings", then decided to get two just in case they became "Out of Stock" like so many others have from the 60s, 70s, & 80s. I was amazed at how many older albums Amazon. com had of the bands I used to listen to. Thanks to Amazon for going above and beyond the call to find me two of these CDs. RW.
Just two good songs...
Both songs are included in this album. This band just made the great deal issuing two major hits: "Say It Isn't So" and "Your Love". But beware: Some extra songs and 'new' hits just recorded in Mono. Most of them are just stuffing material. . . Dissapointing!.
This One Covers All the Bases
This disc gives a proper rendering of the Outfield's talent, and it's all done without leaving out a key song or two like many other "greatest hits" albums seemed to do. If you believe that the Outfield were a one hit wonder, with further investigation you will find out a much different story. In addition, the new studio songs included here are nice bonuses. Tony Lewis' solid vocals, combined with John Spinks' catchy guitar riffs, make for a good experience whether it's a rocker or a ballad. It's about time one can listen all the way through a collection without having to skip or fast forward. If you have a vague memory of this group or you are a hard core follower, in either case this is a really good buy.
Just Good Music
These guys are not 'one-hit' wonders, there are several very good songs on this CD. The Outfield is one of those groups that you've probably never heard of but you actually know [and like] at least a couple of their songs when you hear them. And the odd thing is that I actually like some of the other songs better than their radio hits.
For me, these are the type songs that you find yourself humming several days after you listen to them. Not hymns, not anthems, just good solid music.
So give them a chance, buy this CD and I think that you might even remember their name after you listen to their songs. .
Great for any Outfield fan
He had an Outfield CD or two, but really likes this greatest hits compilation. Bought this for my husband for Christmas, I've been surprised how much he listens to it. .
