Young but wise
A great reminder to fans the power the band once held (and still dabbles in), this tiny disc released after Vitalogy effortlessly showcased merging influences of more folk and softer melodic work with what was still a powerhouse, stadium-ready group sound; perhaps clearer then those two opposing forces, which went on to infect band harmony for years, had ever have reached.


A hidden jem
In my opinion, the slow and dark, "Long Road", is the outstanding piece off this release. This two song CD is really a hidden jem of the complete Pearl Jam collection. This song shows up frequently at the opening of a PJ concert due to it's ability to perfectly set the "Pearl Jam Mood". Eddie's booming voice in the opening moments of the song are the perfect way to begin any Pearl Jam concert, or just an evening at home listening to one's favorite PJ songs. .


Sweet!

I got id has a great chorus and neil young's solo is essential for the feel of the song. Two songs that are simply great.
Long road being a slow song showcases vedder's strengh as a frontman.

Both album recordings are superior to their live versions.
This disc is essential in any PJ catalogue.


Simply the best single of 1995
Mirrorball was huge and Neil was even getting play on MTV for the song "Downtown". I recall when this collaboration between Neil Young and Pearl Jam came about. I was so excited to hear "Long Road" on the radio and wanted to obtain the song. When I found out that PJ collaborated with Neil I had to buy his album for sure. I went to buy his album and came across the last copy at my local record store of "Merkin Ball" that they had in stock. I loved this single. Both songs "Long Road" & "I Got Id. " really hooked me in. I had lost the sleeve to this single a few years ago due to water damage and never did find it in stores and found it was out of print so I had to own it again and hence I bought it here.


worth every penny...
these songs hearken back to the TEN days (a VERY VERY good thing) and in some ways surpass a lot of the TEN days material. these two songs are some of pearl jam's best of all time. i got ID is simply stunning. . . the guitar work isnt as defined as most pearl jam, in some ways working like sonic youth's trademark feedback backwash guitar style, letting eddie's intense, personal yet somehow non-sensical vocal preformance explode over the rest of the band. Long Road truly is a long song-one of the longest regular songs pearl jam have ever done (excluding bonus track cd closers and stupid mop. . . ), and is a low-key ballad that uses keys better than any other pearl jam song to date.

if you call yourself a pearl jam fan, you MUST own this gem.
