Tom Petty is the greatest!
He is from Gainesville, FL, and I knew him as a boy through teen-age years. To me, Tom Petty is one of the most talented people I know. He was a friend of my brother and sister. I am 68, they are all three the same age, even to the month (October) and year (1950). Seriously, though, who would have guessed that this little punk kid from our neighborhood would turn out to be what he is today? He is the greatest in my book.

Not a fan, but this is very good
"Last Dance With Mary Jane", "Running Down a Dream", "Free Fallin" & "Learning to Fly" are great songs. I'm not a Tom Petty fan, but I've been listening to this CD a lot.

"I'm a bad boy for breaking her heart..."
This greatest hits collection is good but not essential. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have had many classic songs since the beginning. All-American Girl, Free Fallin', Learning To Fly, Don't Come Around Here No More, Last Dance with Mary Jane, and Stop Dragging My Heart Around (duet with Stevie Nicks) are the standouts on this collection. There are some songs that are missing but on the other hand Tom Petty is a wonderful musician so you can't really go wrong by picking this album up, enjoy!.

Buy the Anthology!
Every track on this album can be found on the "Anthology Through the Years" record, in addition to loads of other great songs. If you're looking for a good collection of Petty's hits, avoid this record completely. "Anthology" is truly the definitive collection of Petty's greatest hits.

As far as this album goes, the original 1993 release is the only record where you can find the song "Something in the Air. " This track was replaced on this re-release by the single "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around. " The assertion that this album contains "extra tracks" is completely false. I'd personally say that the original release is a better buy.

Really though, I'd avoid them both and go for "Anthology. " It'll run you only a few dollars more and you'll get all of these tracks plus an additional 16.
