Sweeter notes from Phair She's got an interesting style that I can't really slap a genre label on. I've been a hugh Liz Phair fan for a while. However this CD is much more contemporary than her other albums and its beautiful. I love almost every track and its great to hear Phair again. Her popularity definitely dwindles with the music community drowned out and diluted in pop culture, but she is definitely a refreshing retreat from most of the overplayed music on the radio. I've listened to her music only as far back as her "girlysound" tape tracks and even some taped recording of her "I'll Get You High" song. I would have to say this is my favorite album.
Help !! I can't stop listening to this entire CD !!!

I ordered this version for the extra track "Can't Get Out. ". Unfortunately, I'm still hooked on the older version. With the exception of that I feel each and every track is single material. Phair hasn't lost her phlair for a catchy tune with brilliant lyrics. Starting with "Leap Of Innocence" she reaches into her past with painful realities. I'm sure most all of us could relate to one or more of these experiences. The great thing about an artist is the ability to have one singing and bumpin' along to the tune. And the more I listen to these gems the more I do . With "Wind and The Mountain there is an noticable improvement on her talent for reaching those high notes. "Stars and Planets" left me with a Beatle-like feel. "Somebody's Miracle" feels like a song of past regrets. One of my favorites "Got my own thing" with the unforgetable "Ooh boy I'd love to help. Give ya enough rope to hang yourself and I hope your swinging this way too. " "Lazy Dreamer" has a very U2 feel with the echoed guitar playing frantically . The single "Everything to Me" , with the George Harrison-like weeping slide guitar. "Table For One" touches on her brothers past alcohalism. "Why I Lie" could have been from the Stones influenced 1st album "Exile on Guyville" with its crunchy bluesy guitar. "Everything (Between Us)" is like lying at the banks of the Ghanges river in India lazily rolling with sitarlike sounds. And ending with another song that has that recognizable Phair sound "Giving It all To You", You'll want to listen to this again and again if not this time after a few listens you'll be certain to be hooked.
