Give this one a chance, it is a great album!
There are too many Pink Floyd fans that dislike this album, mainly because Roger Waters is gone at this point. More people need to give this album a chance. David Gilmour is the main component here, and Nick Mason performs on about half of the songs and is credited as a member of the band. Richard Wright is on a few songs as well, but is only credited as a session performer. Many of the hardcore fans can't handle this fact, and dismiss this album as "not really Pink Floyd" or "a Gilmour solo effort". I disagree, although I do understand where they are coming from. Sometimes great bands lose members, but the remaining people continue to carry the torch and sometimes do quite well, this is one of those times. Besides, The Final Cut was as much or more of a Waters solo album as Momentary Lapse was a Gilmour solo album. Roger had his chance with The Final Cut, and it did not do very well, now it was David's turn to showcase his talents under the Pink Floyd name, and without Roger and his big ego there to overshadow him and the other guys.

I give this album 4-stars becuase first off amazon doesn't let you do 4-1/2 (and it doesn't quite deserve a full 5), also a few tracks are duds, and yes, this isn't a FULL Pink Floyd effort (No Waters was ok with me, but with Mason and Wright here only as part-timers, you really only get 1 original guy and half of each of two others). But on the other hand, I think that the songs "Learning to Fly" and "On the Turning Away" are incredible songs that are as good as some of the classic Floyd songs, and even better than alot of them. Those two are both 5-star songs, combined with some other good ones like "Sorrow" and "One Slip" make this a strong album.

Of course it is pretty obvious that I am a bigger fan of Gilmour than of Waters. I think that anyone else who is a fan of the more Gilmour-influenced albums like Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here will really enjoy Momentary Lapse of Reason. Those of you who are more for the Waters-influenced albums like Animals, The Wall, and The Final Cut probably won't enjoy this one as much.

Not their best work.........

This was ummm an. . . . . . . . interesting album,to say the least. It was. . . okay I guess I definately haven't listened to the whole thing more than once,if even that. For me the only descent tracks were "On the Turning Away","Terminal Frost" and "Learning to Fly". So if you like more modern music, listen to this you'll like it. But yet again the amazing thing about Pink Floyd really comes out here. They certainly were ahead of their time.

So like I sad if you're into the newer music, you'll love this album. Personally,I hate 21st century music. Tupac burn in hell man. Britanny Spears, lip singer, pop star, not a musician. Hannah Montana. Oh come on!Miley Cyrus is a great person I'm sure. I just don't like her music. However I absolutely HATE Billy Ray Cyrus. Uhhh he disgusts me!!!!!!!!!This album was undoubtedly better than The Division Bell. I reccomend it for the few good things there are about it.

A Momentary Lapse of Reason
It was a huge smash hit and reached #3 on the UK album charts and the billboard 200. A Momentary Lapse of Reason being Pin Floyds 1987 release and their first album after Roger Waters left the band is a real dandy of album. Tracks such as "Learning to Fly", "On the Turning Away", "The Dogs of War" and "One Slip" make for one stupendous album. The cd booklet has some strange photos but the lyrics are easy to read and at the beginning we get a nice list of whom plays what on the album. 5/5.

First album without Roger Waters.
Yet the band perseveres & presses forward. No longer a Roger Waters band, now a David Gilmour band, the music Pink Floyd puts out is very noticeable. Still it's a good, worthwhile album to be had in any music collection & very much recommended by me. Apparently, it's supposed to be the sequel to Dark Side Of The Moon; but as far as I'm concerned, nothing holds a candle to Dark Side Of The Moon; no pun intended.

A Musical Work Of Art
A brilliant mix of natural sound effects of real life, music and feeling. Pink Floyd' s A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is an imaginative masterpiece.

The unexpected parts of rythum that surface with the songs' melodies are played with exciting controlled emotion. Like an intelectual musical theater.

Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is an experience.
