If you like this band and don't have a copy of DSOT,
then either download it here at Amazon, or preferrably,
get this CD. Extreme Pink Floyd CD. The mix is very good, and the track list
really couldn't be better for what was available to them
in their catalog at the time. I recently purchased the VHS
version here at Amazon which includes "the great gig in the sky" live
(because the DVD version doesn't include that song)
because I had to see this show!
It's better than"Pulse", which as everyone knows, is great!
Thats it for my review, except to add a couple of facts
that seem to be disputable here.

1. Pink Floyd added a 3 piece female vocal section in 1973
as part of the band, at the insistence of producer Alan Parsons
during Dark Side of The Moon pre-proddution rehearsals.
They aren't just "backup" singers.
Their parts are written and performed very precisely
They are another instrument in their sonic arsenal.

2. The bass is heavy because Roger Waters learned from
Chris Squire the secret of using a preamp-crossover - power amps in a rack instead of a bass amp live onstage, and he had 4 X 18 inch speakers on either side of Mason's drums for his low end. Pink Floyd had a HUGE bass guitar sound live. So the new lineup kept with that formula.

Most in my age group would rather listen to new music very different and more trendy than this, but this live CD is really something. GET THIS CD!
You wil really like it.
Oh! I forgot. . .
I wanted to say Rachel Fury ROCKS in this show,
(so do the other "backup" singers)

.

Delicate Sound of Thunder
The album was a massive success and peaked at #11 both in the UK album charts and on the billboard 200. Delicate Sound of Thunder being a live album by Pink Floyd and was recorded over 5 nights at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York in August 1988 and mixed at Abbey Road Studios in September 1988. In Norway it did even better and peaked at #2 in the album charts. Here we get classic tracks such "Shine on you crazy diamond", "Another brick in the wall (Part II)" and "Run Like Hell". 4/5.

I saw it and it my jaw drop
I saw this tour and I was totally blown away! Didn't miss Roger at all and Im a life long fan.

Some of the performances are amazing, some are lackluster
If you're looking for stellar live performances, you may prefer Pulse instead. This album is a mixed bag. For example, Gilmour sounds dead tired (or just completely stoned) on Learning To Fly. It makes me cringe and I skip over the song. The version on Pulse is incredible in comparison. But on the other hand, On The Turning Away is incredible here; and it's not included on Pulse.

Overall, Pulse is amazing throughout, and this album is amazing sometimes.

I can pick it out any time it's played anywhere. Nikon Coolpix S560 - Cherry BlossomI'm 59 and am still mesmerized by their music. I have to refresh my collection though, because my records just don't do the justice anymore! (that should tell you how long I've listened to this great group even amongst it's controversy).
