Great Chicago-Style Blues
He plays with passion and hard (he breaks a lot of strings) and sweats in your beer from the stage as he pounds out electric blues. We used to go see Pappa Chubby when he fronted the house band at Manny's Car Wash in NYC for the Sunday night blues jam (part of which can be heard on this disk).
Wow! What a first.
Poppa Chubby is a find! From the opening track, Money, to the end you'll be bouncing to the beat. Gritty vocals, strong guitar. His vocals are strong, and you'll be amazed how he moves around a guitar! The horn backup on this album brings some modern feel to his otherwise plaintive guitar licks. So good, even my 15 year old is looking for his music!.
