The Gold Experience is Golden
I used to own this CD, but it must have fallen through the cracks somewhere. I love Prince. After the song "Billy Jack Bitch" popped into my head one day and I discovered I couldn't find the CD - I was happy to find it on Amazon. com.

Shines in high and low places
. Even with dated 90's overproduction guiding a few miscalculated hip-hop perversities, newly christened symbol-man does not eschew greatness, providing a sexy sheen in spades over dualistic intent.


The Last of "Classic Prince"
This is the last Prince release of all-original material that I have enjoyed from stem to stern, without a weak track to be found. Prince hit his evolutionary stride right around "Sign 'O' The Times", but he kept on putting out A-grade material right up to this album. From the in-your-face rock of "Endorphinmachine" to the slick and furious "I (Eye) Hate You", it's a tour de force that any Prince fan shouldn't be without. It's too bad the album itself is out of print. I have a cherished CD copy and an extremely limited numbered vinyl edition of this album which I will never give up.

No, it's not Purple Rain, and it's not even Parade, but consider this: Ever since, and coincidentally since removing himself from the muck of his Warners contract, Prince has released album after album of substandard fare. Emancipation came close to being a good album, but far too much filler. The only album I've enjoyed since then is Musicology. The rest is a few good songs surrounded by also-ran material and Prince trying way too hard to sound modern, which just doesn't cut it for him.

In any case, buy this and cherish it. It certainly deserves more recognition than it received when it was released, even if Prince abandoned the album in its hour in need of publicity.


Best Prince Album of the 90's
I heard and had all of Prince's album's in the 90's to me this was by far and away his Best Work!!.


Rock the House


Prior to its September 1995 release, the songs, Dolphin, was released as a music video. Prince marked a return to his classic rock sound, which was backed by three singles and solid music videos. It was followed by three singles - which also had music videos - Eye Hate U (peaked at #11 on the chart), The Most Beautiful Girl in the World (#3) and Gold (#88). There are 18 tracks - the mostly brief NPG Operator takes up a half-dozen - for a total clocking of nearly 68 minutes.

Recorded between January 1993 and July 1994, the album unfortunately was issued during a time of great friction between Prince and Warner Bros. , with the artist mostly abandoning the promotion of the album, though it earned ecstatic reviews from major critics.

The album has a solid feel of the 1984 classic, Purple Rain, but is hardly a retrospective look back. . . . it arguably is Prince's best release in this decade of professional turmoil. .
