good old fashion songs. It is nice to hear good music whit out "Nasty sayings and Nasty word. It had great good oldfashion songs to hear and sing alone with.
Perseverance
I loved the staccato of the beat. I heard the song, "I'm Gonna Be 500 Miles" as the credits rolled for a film I watched. It took some time to find out who sang the song. I finally found it w/ the help of a Borders assoc. Then I had my stroke and when I recovered, my CD was not to be found and of course, I didn't know who sang the song I loved so much. Finally, I found the CD but it was damaged and I ordered another from Amazon. com. This CD has other songs I love, too. I love the Irish accent that comes through, too. Now I am a happy camper.
Proclaimers
I like upbeat music and liked the upbeat songs. I purchased this cd for the song "Im On My Way" which I first heard on the movie Shrek. As for the slower ones, some I liked and some I didn't care for. I'm glad that I purchased this cd though because there are some good songs on it. I'm not much of a music critic because the music I listen to the most are the "oldies but goodies" and some music from the late 40s. :).
Can't stop listening!
I bought it only knowing the songs "I'm gonna be (500 miles)" and "I'm on my way", but song after song simply kept me listening. This album is terrific. The music is addictive. The lyrics are well constructed and meaningful. Best of all I love the fact that Charlie and Craig Reid do NOT change their beautiful Scottish accents when they sing! This is truly the best album I have purchased in a long time.
Brilliant in Every Way
I never expected to find another CD that would captivate me the way "Hard Day's Night," "Magical Mystery Tour," or "Sgt. I'm 51, and a rabid Beatles fan. Pepper" could. This one comes bleeding close. This music is upbeat, well-rendered, happy, engaging. . . everything music should be. To my shame, I'd never heard of The Proclaimers until one night I watched BBC America's 'Graham Norton' show, on which The Proclaimers were musical guests. My wife recognized the song '500 Miles,' and seemed to enjoy it so much that I bought her this CD for her birthday. As she listened (and danced, and sang) to it, I became hooked. This collection is easily worth twice the price. Anyone with music in his or her soul will love it.
