A Classic Pop Punk Release The Queers and Screeching Weasel were the definition of pop punk in the early to mid 1990s and this disk finds Joe and the rest of the band creating melodic hits. Love Songs is a classic pop punk release. A lot of Ramones with a little Beach Boys mixed in and the songs on this disk are irresistible. If you buy one Queers disk, this is the one you need.
One of the 5 best punk rock albums... ever
Originally released in 1992 and remastered in 2007, this album is chock full of brilliant pop-punk gems, ranging from fast headbangers ("You're Tripping", "I Can't Stop Farting") to slower (but never slow), more introspective songs ("Granola Head", "Debra Jean"). Love Songs For The Retarded is the best album by the best punk rock band on the planet (after the Ramones, of course). Singer/songwriter/guitarist Joe Queer has done what few punk songwriters have accomplished: write catchy, memorable songs filled with punk nastiness AND pop hooks. In addition, the songs are even more impressive because they are flavored with the Beach Boys, Beatles and other 50's/60's music influences. And importantly, the songs are presented with a perfect punk sound: distorted buzzsaw guitar, loud & heavy bass and relatively reserved drums (but with primo fills). Really, this album has to be heard to be believed. .
The first and best of the Queers.
It's swingin punk as good as it can be. I bought this album a long time ago, and I still listen to it often. They have good melodies, good lead voice and good choire.
The Beach Boys meets the Ramones. This is party music!
My best recommandations for everybody who likes surf punk!!.
