Greatness shall not be denied
Baloney. I'm not of the standard view of the Ramones -- that heard-it-all-before line about how great the band was in the late 70s but only spotty after that. The Ramones did their best work starting with "End of the Century" (1980) and just about everything after that. "Adios Amigos" makes a convincing case (if one were needed) for revisionism. "Life's a Gas" and "I Don't Want to Grow Up" are absolute masterpieces, distilling everything you loved about the Ramones. The CD stands with "Pleasant Dreams," "Too Tough to Die" and "Mondo Bizarro" as the band's best.

Yes, I know. All the other young whipper-snappers out there from the Offspring to Blink 182 to Good Charlotte have had their moments. But truth to tell, they just don't have the heart, power or chops of the Ramones. They were pure New Yawk, pure fun, and in a class by themselves. It's hard to accept that Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee are all gone from this world, having taken their place in what one hopes is rock n' roll heaven. They will never be replaced. .

R.I.P Dee Dee, Johnny & Joey
I'm surprised at the "stand out" tracks that people mention while reading their reviews. I just started listening to this again after nearly wearing it down from overuse when it came out in 96 and i must say that this album is simply amazing. . . Scattergun and Cretin Family get tiresome after a while but. . . . .

It's Not For Me To Know,Take The Pain Away,Have A Nice Day & Got A Lot To Say are not only the best songs on this record but some of the best RAMONES songs I've ever heard. . . . the other tracks are also excellent but the 4 above are just pure gold. If you don't own a RAMONES record, pick this up, Too Tough To Die and Rocket to Russia

Do You Wanna Dance???

SURE DO!!!!!!!

FSIOU!!!!!.

A Fitting Conclusion
But the truth is that this album can compete with "Road to Ruin" and "Mondo Bizarro" for the best second tier Ramones album. This album's excellence has been oveshadowed by the fact that it was the Ramones's last. Of course it cannot compare to "The Ramones" or "Rocket to Russia" but still a worthy album. This album is one of the Ramones more beautiful ones. Songs like "Baby I Love You" and "Life's a Gas" compare in beauty to "Pet Cemetary" and even "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend. ".

Life's a gas, oh yea.
While not as good as their classic early albums, it is a fine album in it's own right. This was The Ramones last studio album. While there are a few songs here that aren't that memorable, most of the songs are good. My personal favorites are "I Don't Want To Grow Up", "The Crusher", "Life's a Gas", "Cretin Family" and "She Talks To Rainbows". Oh, and I can't forget the great hidden bonus track, "Spider-Man". This version is better than the one The Ramones recorded for the "Saturday Morning's Greatest Hits" compilation. In conclusion, this album was a fine capper to The Ramones studio career. Recommended to Ramones fans of all ages.

Great Album

All the songs on here rock just as hard as thier early stuff. This is the Ramones last album, and what a way to bow out!
After all the experimenting they did in the 80s, Adios Amigos recaptures the energy of young punks half thier age. This should be required listning for any Ramones fans. It's got a little of everything on here.

I don't Want to Grow Up and the Crusher are two of their best songs. She Talks To Rainbows is one of Joey's best ballads. Cretin Family and Scatter Gun are two great songs sung by bassist CJ Ramone, who's snotty vocals are an excellent asset to the Ramones sound.
Life's a Gas is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

I love this album. I can't deciede if I like it better than Mondo Bizaro, but Adios Amigos rocks!.
