live ramones
. its not the greatest hits, i think everybody has there own favorites, but it is live and has some tunes that are not on any other live albums, so for that reason alone its worth having and if you like the ramones live stuff you gotta get it.
Saying "No" to Bootlegs
This is the second of three live releases from the decade - recorded on February 29, 1996, at The Academy, NYC - and it features Joey (v), Johnny (g), C. Back in the day, the Ramones were "captured" live on any number of bootleg recordings, but it took until the 1990s to find the band issuing a number of live albums. J. (b) and Marky (d). It is roughly one-half the numbers from the show, which was a pretty standard set list for the time period.
Two bonus studio tracks - R. A. M. O. N. E. S. and Any Way You Want It - fill out the roughly 34 minutes taken from the performance. The band was about six months away from breaking up after touring virtually non-stop for 22 years.
Though the finish line was in sight - with Joey already waging a battle against lymphoma - the band may not have been operating on high-octane fuel by this time, but they were not sputtering on fumes just to stay on the track. .
GREAT LIVE ALBUM!!!!
What joey does with the vocals in their later live performances can be described as "adding lib" (maybe he did get a little bored after 2000+ shows)and I personally love it. First of all I've seen alot of negative reviews of this album and Loco Live saying Joey sounds bored, I dont think that is the case, yes their earlier live stuff is great but how many times can you listen to the same live album. He changes up the pattern of alot of the vocals but always stays on time with the instruments (how did he do that?). Anyway, aside from all that, I am suprised no one has mentioned the merit of the two bonus tracks. This album is worth it's weight in gold if only for one of the bonus tracks. R. A. M. O. N. E. S. with Joey on vocals!!! enough said.
a solid album
This is simply a great album for what it is. Been a Ramones fan for decades saw them numerous times in the 70's, 80's and their last tour. I loved "spiderman", Joey was born to sing it. This cd is worth it's weight in gold just for that song alone. Some Ramones' collections are just too long, unlike the original albums, so it's nice to throw in the cd player this disc, hear some great songs in a digestable fashion. The Ramones weren't about overkill, that just wanted to knock you down right away! This album also really shows how tight these guys were live. Definitely get it.
Wish the whole show was on this....
Wish the entire set was on the CD. I was also at this amazing show at the Academy. There was crew filming the show that night. Has anyone seen this on video anywhere?.
