a few corrections

"Time Bomb" is the coolest song on the album. Having read thru the rest of the reviews, and having encountered several glaring inaccuracies, I find that the following corrections are in order:

"I Need Your Love" is awesome.
"Psycho Therapy" is decent, but not on par with their best material.
"Time" is a pointless and crappy cover and shouldn't have happened.

Thank you, and please update your files accordingly.

Best mid-period Ramones.
It might be the last really great album that they made. This is much better than 'Too Tough' or 'Halfway 2 Sanity'.

Return to the Roots

The original dozen tracks clocked in at 33:21 and has a classic cover of Time Has Come Today, with the group also in full flight on the other pair of covers (Little Bit o' Soul and I Need Your Love). Producers Ritchie Cordell and Glen Kolotkin deserve all the credit for getting the band back on track by delving back into the roots of the punk sound that was found in the garage bands of the 1960s in the vastly-underrated February 1983 release. Time Bomb, Psycho Therapy and Outsider are as solid as any songs in the vast catalog, with the album peaking at #83 on the Billboard album chart. The 18 minutes of bonus tracks is impressive; Indian Giver (original mix), New Girl in Town (unreleased) and demo versions of No One to Blame, Roots of Hatred, Bumming Along, Unhappy Girl and My-My Kind of Girl.

Punk rock had long-since imploded by the time of the album's release and the band was going through its own brand of drama - Marky Ramone was fired during the production - while maintaining a torrid concert schedule. But the Ramones proved that they were not on a road to ruin. .

Some diamonds are in the rough...

Little Bit O' Soul is a great cover. This album, like most Ramones albums, contains some real treasures.

I Need Your Love may be the perfect punk pop song ever written. I love it!

You're probably better off buying those singles than the whole album.

Way better than its reputation
Some of their best songs are here: "In My Room," "Outsider," and the unreleased "Unhappy Girl" are among my all-time favorite Ramones songs. This has always been one of those Ramones albums that nobody pays much attention to, but I've always thought it's a gold mine. It seems like people sneer at anything of theirs that came after their late-'70s classics. Oh well. It's their loss. Skip the cover of "Time Has Come Today" and you've got an entire album of short, catchy but muscular power-pop tunes with the trademark Ramones chainsaw guitar and Joey's New Yawk vocals. This is great stuff, people.
