I love it! This is one of my favorite punk/ska songs and one of my favorite covers. I'll admit that I'm far from being the world's biggest Warped Tour mosher, but I love punk.
Reel Big Fish rocks this song. They still do the original A-Ha version justice, with smooth catchy vocals, but the music and the tone of the song are completely party-ska. And the video is hilarious.
I think that this is the best style to use when you cover an 80's song.
good guitar solo's, doesn't go well with vocals
The song goes better with the eighties style. This sounds like the remake of an old eighties song. Not with the punk style that reel big fish brings to it. However, they do have a good guitar. It's the vocals that bring a bad sound to a good song.
Take on ME!!! No, really!
My belief is that once you like one ska band, you're hooked on it! "Take On Me" is a line of many covers by Reel Big Fish. This is a song that can really get you into the ska scene. In fact, covers are common in ska and punk. So if you like the original song, wait until you hear Aaron(vocals & guitar) dish out the keyboard solo on guitar. You can get it right now on the BASEketball soundtrack or the Teen Beef 7" split with RBF and Goldfinger.
Better then the original.
It's really nice, I loved it. I'm from Brazil and I saw the video clip on MTV. Now I want to buy as fast as I can this CD.
