Great ska sound
We both love the old-school-ska-punk-feel this band produces and really love the lyrical quality. I discovered Reel Big Fish on Pandora Radio and ordered this CD as a Christmas present for my husband, who is a huge ska fan. It's a great band and album. .

The only RBF lp you will ever want.
It has a couple of decent songs, but for the most part is nothing special. I have 4 RBF albums and this one, in my opinion, is the best. If your looking for some good 3rd wave ska, buy some Streetlight Manifesto, Mustard Plug, or even some Subb. .

Turn the Radio Off was the second, and in some ways the best, of their studio albums. Of all the Third Wave Ska bands, I firmly believe that Reel Big Fish was, and still is, the best, in addition to being one of the few still remaining, and continuously active, of the Third Wave acts. "Sell Out" may be their "one hit wonder" as far as the masses are concerned, but that's only because it was their first single. The lowest common denominator effect is widely known in popular music (Limp Bizkit, anyone?) but RBF is far more than that, and Turn the Radio Off is far more than that one song. Sell Out isn't even the best from the album. I'd have to say that Beer holds that honor, and it is in fact an opinion that Aaron Barrett holds himself; as his statement in an interview once, "Someday I'll write a song better than Beer", clearly shows.

Oh, if only Beer had had a video, then things may have been different!

To anyone who has never seen RBF at a live show, do yourself a favor and go see them! Reel Big Fish puts on one of the best, if not the best, live shows of any active band. Fortunately for everyone, RBF will be playing theentire08 Warped Tour, coming to a city near you. So go see them!

Turn the Radio Off is a beautiful, fun, sarcastic album, and introduces many of the bands themes, from the title itself (later to be the name of an acerbic song about the mindless acceptance of whatever plays on the radio instead of using your own judgment and listening to music you picked yourself) to angry, sarcastic songs about the recording industry, hidden beneath the surface of a seemingly happy, fun-filled song, to RBF's many songs about failed romances.

In fact, that same anger hidden behind happiness is one of the hallmarks of Reel Big Fish. One may be tricked into believing that RBF's music is thoughtless, happy nothings, but it is full of emotion and anger, polished with a glaze of quick beats, skankadelic horns, and amazing guitar. But just listen to the aforementioned Turn the Radio Off (song) from the album We'reNot Happy Til Your Not Happy, and listen to the words, and anyone can feel the anger. And it's a good anger, full of punk sensibility, calling for all to think for yourselves and not take whatever is given to you lying down.

To put it simply, Reel Big Fish rocks, but we are still left with trhe question: Why Do They Rock So Hard?

A question that may never be answered, but if you listen to them you'll understand the meaning of the question.

Very pleased w/ price and shipping time. Good cd, have liked it since I was younger.

looking for an album to cheer you up?
there is not a song that i don't like on here. this is by far the best cd reel big fish has made. reel big fish can always cheer me up with their uptempo popska. this album ranges from the funny "she has a girlfriend now", to a little aggressive "skatanic", to just plain catchy "sellout" and "trendy. " the only people who i know that don't enjoy this album, don't like this kind of music.
