The best Reel Big Fish album available, no questions asked. Also, 30+ of Reel Big Fish's greatest songs in one album is a steal. Reel Big Fish sounds much better live than in the studio.
Great Live Act, Great Live Album
The on stage banter between the band mates, how they're performances on stage are as tight as you would hear on their studio albums, along with the fact that they just play some fine good music together is well worth picking up this album. The Reel Big Fish have something that makes their live act even more fun than listening to their studio work:
Real and true showmanship. Not to mention, as mentioned in another review, the audio quality if EXCELLENT for a live album. It almost sounds like they brought a bunch of fans into the studio and recorded the album with them there. The mix is fantastic and the sound quality is beyond that of many other live albums I've heard in the past.
Some of their bits do come off as being very rehearsed, such as the many versions of SR, some of the between member banter, but still highly entertaining and well worth the money and then some.
Not to mention you not only get some of their best original material along with several of their best covers as well. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this album and plan to see them again when they come to my neck of the woods in January.
Best live album I've ever heard, but why all the swearing?
I work for a radio station playing an all ska show and these songs would be absolutely great, but I cant find a single song that doesn't slip the F bomb somewhere. Somehow Reel Big Fish got away without posting a Parental Advisory patch on this album, which is misleading because they swear like CRAZY. Other than that it's completely flawless. They play all of the best songs, the live recording is seamless and the talking between tracks is hilarious.
If you're still not sold after reading the 50 five-star reviews on this page just remember this cd was put out by Aaron himself from RBF after the record companies (3 to be exact) screwed them over. So you're actually helping the band with this album, not just making them "sell out" more. If you're looking for a greatest hits album (which I strongly disapprove of) this album has every one of their best songs, or if you're a huge Fish fan this album will provide an artificial concert for you while they're touring in Japan.
.
Best Live Album....ever
I always wanted something to listen to in my car (they did the House of Blues DVD) and they just never seemed to put one out. I saw RBF live at a Warped Tour back in the mid 90s and fell in love with them, life as opposed to on CD. So, when their record company screwed them over, they released this CD which is probably the best piece of music I own. Of course, what makes this great is the energy. You can tell that some bands play concerts out of obligation. I think these guys would rather do concerts than anything else. Nothing beats the comedy in between the songs. Classic album from the best band in the world.
Better Live
I saw this band and absolutely loved them! This album is perfect live, and you get three for the price of one! If you are unfamiliar with the band, however, be aware it is not family friendly. . just awesome.
