Excellent Reel Big Fish, as always, is just amazing, but, unfortunately this was the first I had ever heard of Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer. This is truly wonderful stuff. But boy am I am glad I did! I've been hooked on RBF since I first heard them in '96, but after hearing this I have quickly become a huge Zolof fan as well. As they say on their MySpace page, their influences are "sugar and demons" and they sound like "hitting yourself on the head with a candybar. " So don't expect angtsy, depressing stuff from this album. This is pure, happy fun, and the bands revel in it. Zolof brings the cute, hopping little blond singer with an adorable voice, Rachel Minton, and RBF brings the inimitable and uncontainable smarmy snarkiness of Aaron Barrett (with the single exception of a song sung by Rachel and the amazing Scott Klopfenstein, with his fabulous falsetto,) with the bands taking turns playing the music, and together they cover six songs from the 80's with, as the title suggests, duets. The result is made of win, and rad beyond compare.
So Awsome, it's everything you want in a 80's remix
This one (if you are a fan of their covers) does not disappoint, and Zolof (if you have never heard of them) did great as well. Reel Big Fish always produces great stuff; I have all their albums but the Greatest Hits and More because it was not released by them. I brought this to work one night and all the guys I work with (All in the 25-32 range) loved it and went out and got it and 2 of them had never even heard of Reel Big Fish before (they are new and have not heard me playing the other RBF stuff I have). Great job guys with this and the new CD!.
