A great way to round off your refused album collection
The music is undeniably some of the hardest/ heaviest hitting hardcore out. What a great way to round out your Refused album collection!
When I first popped this disc in I was pleased to hear the recurrence of the popular but great New Noise, as I progressed through the disc you can't help but get into it the way these guys played. The vocals are top notch as always by Dennis and the way the music forms around his screams is like a fire imploding on the listener. There are a few experimental tracks such as the remix of Refused are F*cking Dead which I heard when this album first came out and didn't particularly like, but soon got grooving to it. This album even includes the cover of The Prodigy's voodoo people, which is pretty awesome.
All in all I say great album! A must have for any fan who wants to round off their collection without buying the singles Nut and New Noise Theology. If you are a new fan start out with some of their full length albums such as Shape of punk to come or Songs to fan the flames of discontent as a few of these songs may seem too strange to the new listener.

A great collection of their older works....
As the name implies it is various EP's first 4 tracks are off the `New Noise Theology' EP, tracks 10-17 are from the `Nut' EP, and tracks 5-9 I'm honestly not really sure about. REFUSED - The EP Compilation

One Review!!! One Freaking Review?!? This album is a prequel to one of the greatest albums ever made `The Shape of Punk to Come'.

Now Refused, for those who do not know, are and aggressive politically driven band from Sweden. . . As far as their music goes it is aggressive punk / hardcore hybrid. (Their last Album `The Shape of Punk to Come' - was all this and oh so much more. . . ) Now I'm not a guy who generally likes Punk/Hardcore music. . . (with the exception of Snapcase. . . . They kick some ass too) But Refused just `clicked' with me. . . the same way other great bands like `Opeth' and `Tool' have.
I think for Refuse it was there passion, their aggression and their message. . . All of those 3 things combined really just made Refused one of my favorite bands of all time. As a lyricist Dennis was a pure genius. . . denouncing most of our Societies traditions with pure lyrical anarchy. Tracks like: Rather be Dead, Burn it, Lick it Clean, Symbols and The Real are pretty much asking us to question what we've been taught and revolt against Societies Rules and Stereotypes.
Anarchy seemed like such a childish idea when so many crappy, 3-chord, spike wearing, drunken punk bands tried to embrace it. . . Yet Refused gave it a whole new sense of intelligence and appreciation.

Please don't overlook this album, the `Songs to Flame the Fan of Discontent' and especially `The Shape of Punk to Come'.
Refused is a true gem in the commercial world that has become Punk-Rock.

Favorite Tracks: Sunflower Princess, Burn it, Rather be Dead, and Everlasting
-4. 75 Stars.

4 and a half
Refused is just an act that crossed the boundaries of this style, but without paying the 'right dues' to it. they can't be called hardcore, neither post-hardcore. It's very heavy and angry, like hardcore should be, but their originality goes beyond labels. The only but of this cd is the vocals. They're not very shaped and for this style of heavier songs, a well-screamed shoulb be welcome, but we've got the lyrics and some of the coolest riffs and breakdowns ever.
