Eighteen years of Django's best From his days with violinist Stephane Grappelli and the Quintette du Hot Club de France, Reinhardt went on to play with jazz legends like Coleman Hawkins, Benny Carter, Bill Coleman, Rex Stewart, Barney Bigard, Peanuts Hucko, Mel Powell and Ray McKinley. This four-CD boxed set features 103 of guitarist Django Reinhardt's best tunes from 1934 to 1952, plus a photo-filled 44-page booklet. They all appear in this package, the 53rd in a series from Proper Records of England. More than 50 years after Reinhardt's death, many cities (including Tucson, where I live) still have their own "Hot Club" combos, carrying on the gypsy guitarist's legacy. .
