Their best record
It's kind of annoying that this was never paired with Sorry Ma so you can get their best stuff on 1 disc. And you don't need a college degree to enjoy it! Short, loud, fast, fun - all the things that they stopped doing not long after this record.

If you like "Dope Smokin Moron" you'll love Mighty High. . . In Drug City. .

I understand this was an EP but...twelve tracks?!?
This was not an issue with the prior CD issue on Rough Trade. The sound is more spacious than ever before, BUT, the harmonica intro
to "White And Lazy" is now newly muffled and then recovers very shortly thereafter. So either it was a mistake in mastering or if the master tape was damaged they chose to not use the source from a safety master. This is a pretty barren reissue. Eight tracks, four bonus tracks. Twelve total. Twenty minutes of music. That's it. The liner notes mention another take existing of "Kids Don't Follow" but it seems that no one thought to include it.

I'm not one to welcome changing the identity of a track at all but, for some reason the police-crashing-the-party intro really outstays it's welcome here. Maybe Itunes will issue "Kids Don't Follow" one day without the meandering intro and just the actual song.

There were plenty of other period outtakes not included on "Sorry Ma. . . " such as "D. E. A. D. ", "Skip It", "Off Your Pants", "Excuse Me, Use Me", "My Town" and "I Made A Mistake" that were not unlike anything on Stink and would have made it a nice and big reissue. So this entire series is a little head scratching.

I guess we'll have to wait for the box set.

Great reissue!!
I have owned the original cassette, the original CD, the 2002 Restless reissue, and now this 2008 Rhino version. There is not much about the original 8-song EP that I can say that a million other reviewers haven't already said, so I will focus on what makes this reissue so great. Cutting to the chase --- "You're Getting Married" is miles ahead of ANYTHING else they did, at least before "Let It Be"!!!! That track is the final bonus track on this reissue, and is a Westerberg home demo. It was intended for the band, but Burnout Bob Stinson rejected it! If you know anything about Paul Westerberg's way of thinking, you can probably guess what this song is about! It is a melodic ballad played on electric guitar only, and is a passionate urge to all listeners NOT to get married, sort of a prequel to the song "Nobody" from their final album, but much more intense. Lyric of the century --- "I don't know what's in it for you, but it sure ain't your heart!". Paul at his absolute best. Enjoy!!!.
