Ex-Reveille lead singers new band Finally the lead singer for Reveille as put together a new band called Genuflect. As you may know Reveille broke up back in 2003. Along with Drew in the new band is ex-Reveille guitar player Greg Sullivan. So check Genuflect out. It should be the next Reveille and maybe better. .
wow
but after listening to both albums extensively ( which i did, believe me), "laced" stands out. i have to admit that i hadn't heard this album until 2002,and even after that i thought "bleed the sky" was better. at first listen, the music can grab you and make you listen to it. but after listening to it for awhile and reading the lyrics i was captured by this album. musically it doesnt seem as deep as it is. . . the way this album stands out to me is through the lyrics. just check out "judas", "rise and blind". . . . well, s#*t. the whole album is mind blowing. .
Great CD!!!
Although I was there for Godsmack, Reveille had already blown me away before the headliner even came out. The first time I ever saw or heard of Reveille was when they opened for Godsmack at Vets (in Providence) in '99. They play with so much energy and raw human emotion that I don't think I could find the words to do them justice. In addition to recommending this cd I would also recommend catching a show if you can. I had totally fallen in love with them and after that I became an avid supporter. Since then, I have seen them at least a dozen times in venues all over New England. This is a must own cd! The songs are great!! From Butterfly all the way to Dark Horizons it's filled with some great riffs, some really deep lyrics, and emotion. Although there are some who would say they sound like Rage, I beg to differ. There are some similarities yes, but on the other hand if you listened you could tell the difference in not only the music itself but also the messages conveyed. In all fairness I could probably name 10 rappers that sound alike along with 10 pop divas who all wish to sound and look just like the ones that came before.
Best band and cd of all time!
It mixes together an array of rap metal followed by badass screams and catchy riffs. I first purchased this cd quite a long time ago, right when it first came out. I don't even know where to begin on how to explain just how impressive Reveille is. Every time I listen to this cd I notice new things that never fail to amaze me. Trust me, buy this cd, you'll love it.
Reveille - The New Band To Watch
However, the way they mix the two different styles of rap/metal, in my opinion, is unbelievable. You could describe Reveille as a mix of Rage Against the Machine and Deftones, with the singer's (Drew Simollardes) voice sounding like Zach de la Rocha and the guitars (Greg Sullivan, Steve Miloszewski) sounding like the style of metal Deftones use.
I am from the Boston, so is Reveille, so when I heard about them I decided to support local music and give them a listen. I was blown away by the music as well as the singing (and screaming). What came to me as the biggest surprise was that they were only 16-19 years old when they recorded "Laced". In my opinion, this CD was better than any Deftones or Rage Against the Machine CD.
The CD goes strong from the beginning song "Butterfly" to the end song "Dark Horizons" The anger in the voice of Drew Simollardes really adds to the blaring guitars of Steve Miloszewski and Greg Sullivan. The bass parts, played by Carl Randolph, in songs like "Butterfly" and "Perfect World" are examples that bass players from bands that are really terrible (ex. Limp Bizkit, bass player Sam Rivers,) should take after. The drum fills in the 12 songs on the CD are amazing and, me being a drummer myself, enjoy playing them on my drum set.
My favorite songs on the CD are "Butterfly", "Rise And Blind", and "Feel". But, all the songs on the CD are great. The mixture of metal and rap is a perfect example of how nu-metal should sound these days, not like Limp Bizkit or Korn.
Now, I have talked to my friends about Reveille and most of my friends have not heard of them. I gave them a listen to " Laced" and they are all going out to buy it. They are definately a band people should be looking out for, because Limp Bizkit and Korn will not last too much longer and that's when true bands like Reveille will be standing strong.
To conclude, Reveille's CD "Laced" is a must-buy. "Laced" is my favoreite CD of all time. If you are into Rage Against the Machine and Deftones, pick up "Laced". And although they don't get a lot of air-play, they deserve to be on MTV more than Limp Bizkit or Korn.
