Give the Man a Hand
This is on yet another record label. Reverend Horton Heat hasn't put out a "proper" studio record in the last five years, which makes "Revival" his most recent studio effort and hopefully not his last. Yep Roc stepped up to the plate this time and put their money in Jim Heath & Co. 's collective pockets. Money that was wisely spent.

Just like his last release, "Lucky 7", and the one before, "Spend A Night In The Box", "Revival" continues a bit of a trend toward more "mature" songs. He still rips it up on plenty of tracks. And his live shows are always high-energy. But the psychobilly tendencies are starting to be replaced by a lot more mid-tempo songs. The production on his last few records are much cleaner than his earlier efforts. Country influences run thru a few songs. And a more old-school & true rockabilly sound is present. But it's still The Rev. He still rocks. His musicianship is still incredible. And the songs always speak for themselves. All fifteen songs are well-done with "Callin' In Twisted" & "If It Ain't Got Rhythm" stealing the show. All in all, another solid disc from that Texas psychobilly mad-man we all love. It's worth your time, energy & cheese!.

The Rev keeps churning out great records

Get the version with the bonus DVD if you can find it. Another good set of tunes from a great/underappreciated band. Plenty of
variety on this disc, a little more mellow overall than what you
may expect, but all the staples (drinking, cars, girls) are here with a
little gospel we've come to expect. My daughter (3) even loves
"Octopus Mode". . . .

The Reverend is Refined like aged Wine
He's a MUST SEE LIVE IN CONCERT!! High Energy! The Revival CD is his latest to date and (like fine wine) his recordings seem to get better with age. This Texan mixes Punk, Rock a Billy, and Rock n Roll like no other. Totally recomended for listeners of everything from classical to rap (joke!). If you don't dig the Reverend and this CD you aint cool. .

not too bad
its got some really good songs that would make it on a personal best of rev cd, but it has some that seem like filler just to complete the cd, the ones i skip over. this album is alright. its still worth the buy because it is after all a reverend cd.
