The Rev and Co rock! . I have seen the Rev live and this is as close as being there in front of him is going to get.
NICE BUT...
IT'S A GREAT BAND, GREAT MUSIC, GREAT SONGS, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE THEIR MOST IMPORTANT AND POPULAR SONG: "PSYCHOBILLY FREAKOUT", CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!, WHY, THIS "20TH CENTURY MASTERS" RECORD LABEL MUST BE THIRSTY AND NEED PLENTY OF WATER TO DRINK, BECAUSE THEY'RE GOING TO HELL!!!.
I was a sinner until I saw the Rev Horton Heat
The Rev is outstanding with his Gretsch guitar. This a a great collection by a great band. Jimbo the bass player is just plain good and the drumming is perfect. If you like fast rockabilly - this is wonderful stuff.
It's time to pray.
However, this collection is only half of what his "Holy Roller" disc is. If you like your rock-a-billy turned up to 11, then Reverend Horton Heat is what you want. That best of includes 9 more songs, obviously more essential Rev, and better packaging. What's here rocks of course, and it's better than nothing, but why order hamburger when you can get steak? This is short a few prime cuts also, so there's really no need to think about it. But you do need some Horton Heat, and I'd say you need it "Now, Right Now". .
