The ex-Commodore performs just for you!
So this album was no megahit like Richie's first three solo albums LIONEL RICHIE,CAN'T SLOW DOWN and DANCING ON THE CEILING(CSD was the biggest-seller of all),big deal! It's still excellent! Richie's fans also love his Commodores albums,and of course,2006's COMING HOME,the follow-up to this album. A year after releasing his DEFINITIVE COLLECTION CD,ex-Commodore Lionel Richie gives his fans 13 new tracks on this excellent album! This CD features an excellent duet with Lenny Kravitz.


Lionel Richie: R&B Soul!!
I like this album better than the other Lionel Richie Albums because this is more laid back , more R&B. Lionel Richie is a wonderful singer.

Disappointing in all respects
I couldn't even listen all the way through - it was so bad. I love vintage Lionel, but this is really subpar - poor songs, poor overly polished and underly original production, and too many gimmicks (by the time they start the African chant in "She's Amazing" I'm about ready to puke). The most memorable song is perhaps the title cut and first on the album (Just for You) - it's OK - just doesn't really go anywhere.

Hopefully Lionel's best will come back with a future album. .


Love It! Love It! Love It!
I love the music- it touched my heart. This was a perfect CD for my life. I couldn't have been more thrilled. I was jamming in the music store and had to get!.


NOT his best album
And in some cases the comeback albums were great -- that is, if your name is Prince, Anita Baker or Teena Marie. In 2004 there were a lot of comeback attempts made by legendary R&B artists. In other cases, however, the comeback albums were rather subpar, like if your name is Lionel Richie.

Now, I like Lionel, but honestly, this isn't his best album. He can still sing and all, but he didn't exactly pick the greatest bunch of songs to put on the album. There ARE some good ones, though. "Time of Your Life" with Lenny Kravitz (but he's only playing music, so I don't know if that should really count as a guest spot) brings me back to the `80s when Lionel was in his heyday. But one of the best songs is "Heaven", a club-rocker that actually does work.

Another good song is the addictive "In My Dreams", which features backing vocals from The Letter M. Although she has one of the dumbest names I've ever heard for an artist, she does help deliver what I think is the best song on the album. The acoustic "Ball and Chain" is pretty good too.

But then you have a whole bunch of okay songs, like the first two (the title track and "I Still Believe"), which are keep-your-head-up songs that really don't make any sense. There's also the obligatory end-of-album we-are-the-world song "One World" (which neither helps nor hurts the album), as well as the obligatory song that tries to appeal to the younger crowd, "Do Ya". The song features Daniel Bedingfield, of all people, and Daniel really comes off like a Michael Jackson wannabe (he even does the "hoo-hoo!"s).

Lionel further embarrasses himself on the rock-influenced "Outrageous", which is just that. He may still have a voice good enough to carry on his career for another few years, but truthfully, Just For You is really just for you diehards.
