Great Album
Immensely enjoyable music and lyrics. This is one of my favorite albums of the last 10 years. The best effort by Rilo Kiley to date. (I am writing this after "Under the Blacklight" was released. )

Calm when it needs to be, but loud when it feels like rocking (most of the time), this album demonstrates the band's confidence in themselves. It builds to a crescendo of noise during the instrumental part of "My Slumbering Heart", with many highlights along the way, before quieting down for a couple of songs before blasting us with "Spectacular Views" at the end.

Only one real clunker: "With Arms Outstretched". I know that a lot of people like this song, but to me it sounds too much like "I Just Called to Say I Love You" (when she sings "Some days they last longer than others. . . " Stevie, sing along!). Also, the split-up hidden track is a waste of time.

Wow
It's not a masterpiece, but it seemed well-written and well-performed, if a little insubstantial. Blacklight was my first RK record, and I couldn't understand why people were so down on it. A nice record.

Until I heard this. This album is just beautiful. The writing has a lot more to it on this record than Blacklight. Lewis could always sing (I also heard Acid Tongue befor coming to this one) but she's got so much more to work with here. These are the kind of songs that you'll want to hear over and over until you learn the words well enough to sing along. With feelin'.

Great music
I'd have to say that this is my least favorite of their full length cds because it features two of my least favorite songs but it's still a very good record with very talented artists. This band is amazing.

Rilo Kiley's Masterpiece (So Far): RK in Concentrated Form

'The Execution of All Things' is Rilo Kiley in their most concentrated form to date and exhibits all of the characteristics that make for an interesting musical journey. If you have discovered Rilo Kiley in the time since they signed to a Major Label and released 'Under the Blacklight' and have only heard that album (or its predecessor, 'More Adventurous'), do yourself a favor and give them another chance ^_^ with this, their most inspired album.

Behind the catchy melodies are song structures and intelligent lyrics that are not too commonplace as to become tired or boring on multiple listens.

This is really an ALBUM which is meant to be listened to from beginning to end.

With so few releases in our current musical climate that are totally listenable throughout, 'Execution' delivers. Although many will cite 'A Better Son / Daughter' or perhaps 'Spectacular Views' as standout tracks, there _is not_ a weak track in my opinion. 10 out of 10.
