Buy This. He could sing any style and sound great. This man was amazing. The only thing dissapointing about this CD is that it stops at 16. I have said for years that he had the best voice in all of country music. But don't take my word for it, buy it yourself and then decide. Fantastic!.
Enjoyable CD
He now enjoys the other songs on the CD and shares it with friends. My son wanted a recording of "A White Sportcoat and A Pink Carnation" because he had heard it on an oldies station.
EL PASO
The whole cd is excellant. This has to one of his best songs ever. . takes me back to being a kid again. . . when things were more peaceful. Lot of memories with this cd. . . . . it is GREAT!.
Best Marty Robbins Tape
15 of the songs were number 1 hits. THis is truly the best Marty Robbins tape. If someone is not a Marty Robbins fan he will be after he hears this CD. I first purchased the tape a few years ago, and recently took it on a road trip with a friend. He liked it so much he asked to borrow it and will not return it. He is now a real Marty Robbins fan. So I bought the CD and play it all the time. It is an album that makes me feel good. It is my favorite album right now. There really are no albums made today that can copare with the greatness of Marty and his songs. .
"Greatest" is ONLY an Opinion
Know this, "I'll Go On Alone" from early in his career when Marty did not have the support of his wife in his music career (she changed her mind though) and "Among My Souvenirs" (done to death by other singers) were NOT two of his greatest hits as to sales, radio play, etc. There is nothing here to disappoint(unless as one reviewer claims, the sound is flawed in part). The definitive collection is STILL "The Essential Marty Robbins". You should enjoy those two songs mentioned above and all of the rest on this, but don't be fooled by "greatest" claims.
