Marty's first Opry performance
I now also have the exact date--June 30, 1951. I am writing the biography of Marty Robbins and it was so exciting to me to hear the live performance of his first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. Red Foley comments, "Marty, a nice looking bunch of people here, huh?" and Marty responds, "There's a lot of them. " This CD shows Marty's progression over a decade, from this first performance until "El Paso" and the end of the Prince Albert network show. I only wish a more typical Marty photo had been used for the cover. He was not a hat person.

What else are they trying to hide from us?
The sound, the packaging, the notes, everything. This is awesome all the way around. Now what I am wondering. How many classic live Opry recordings like this are sitting in some vault somewhere collecting dust? Buy this now!.

Marty Robbins Live Classics
This album shows true grit and spirit that Marty Robbins had and still these timeless classics live on through the passage of time. It is "The Marty Robbins Album" its Amazing in his long standing career of brilliance that more live performances have not been released. No Marty Robbins Fan should be without this Album nor should anyone who wants a peice of Country Music History. This is Marty at the prime of his career the sound qaulity is amazing.

A First-Class CD
Aside from the fact that there are songs on this CD that he never recorded in a studio, it is great to hear him do what he did best -- entertain before a live audience. "Early Classics Live" is a great collection for anyone who is a Marty Robbins fan.

As hard as it is to imagine, Marty Robbins was not born as an entertainer. This collection provides a glimpse of his development onstage over a ten-year period. The incredibly shy young man that Red Foley introduced to the Grand Ole Opry in 1951 (captured on this CD) develops into an onstage giant at the end of the CD with a performance of "El Paso," complete with the excitement that could only be found at the Opry when Marty performed there. The CD captures him with some of his early stage antics, along with his commanding stage presence.

This one is well worth having! I only hope it is not the last to be heard of some of his amazing Opry performances!.
