The Return of the Master.
I've got to say though, after listening to it several times how deceptive one listen can be. Having bought this album after hearing "easy to love" on the radio, I was initially disapointed after the first two tracks. The album is fantastic and just shows what a genius this man is. He has influenced a generation of icons from Lennon & McCartney to Dylan, who am I to argue. If you love Smokey, don't hesitate BUY THIS ALBUM.

STILL SOUNDS SWEET
HE STILL SOUNDS AS GOOD AS HE DID YESTERYEAR. SMOKEY ROBINSON HASN'T MISSED A BEAT. YOU MUST HEAR TO BELIVE.

A Modern-Classic
What a rare album of music- There's no rapping, the lyrics are intelligent and fresh, and the album maintains a consistant flow. . It can actually be listened to in one enjoyable session. The sound of actual instruments are peppered throughout, which helps to reduce the 'plastic' sound that's so overwhelming on modern R & B recordings. This actually sounds like Music. The strongest tracks are "Sleepin' In", "Easy To Love" and "Intimate". This is a collection of songs what will not have to "grow" on you- You won't have to try and convince yourself you like them by playing them over and over. This album sounds wonderful on the very first listen, and you'll be anxious to play it again. Now. . . Can we get Stephanie Mills to make a come-back with some material like this?.

Intimate Settings?
Motown Legend's, but a reference to the sorely underappreciated "Every Day is a New Day". The title of this review is not a reference to Sting's new album which became available the same day as Mr. (The reviewer reserves all other biases against divadom for other reviews. With that said, Diana Ross's album is leaps and bounds better than this, and why Berry Gordy would want to associate himself as executive producer with or to this project, when the artistic strides made by his former flams's new album are leaps and bounds and mountains high enough better. How many trite love songs with bland sentimentality that do not even match the conviction and soul that Barry White's newest single exudes? For all its bravado, there is a tinge of a self-effacing ironic play on the words that Mr. White sings, whereas Robinson's words are trite and even verge on being an indication that his way with the words and pillow talk is fading with his age. Lyrics such as "I've borrowed from poets, songwriters et. al is paramount to understanding this problem that he and Lionel Richie are falling victim to: TRITE AND BORING AND STONE AGE SOUL! The quite storm vibe only carries this album so far; Diana Ross made a far better record-from an artistic and soulful standpoint. Every single song on this Smokey Robinson album meshes one into the other.

one of the best romantic picks
that is one of the best romantic cd's I have ever heard. the bottom line (track 8) is my favourite but all the other tracks are fantastic as well. the words of the song are quite good too and not comparable to other so called "love-songs". enjoy it - it is a great gift to a person important to you.
