Not the original but still wonderful and the best your gonna get! It was a huge part of my childhood Christmases. my best childhood memories were of waking up to the bright light from my dads old video camera and hearing this beautiful record on the record player playing knowing Santa must have come and jumping out of bed to see all the beautiful presents under the tree and sticking out of the stockings. So when I found the cd I was really excited cus it had been many years since I had heard it. However until I read these reviews I hadn't realized it wasn't the same exact track listings as the amazing LP had and when I was reminded of Kenny Rogers "Silent Night" I nearly cried realizing it is missing from my cd, "I Believe in Santa Claus" and "The Greatest Gift of All" had been remembered as my very favorites but when I was reminded of Kennys "Silent Night" all kinds of memories came back and I got very upset that it isn't on the cd! Is there any way possible to get it on cd or mp3 download. I am going to go crazy wanting that beautiful song now and it changed my oppinion on the cd version of the album ,although I still give it 5 stars because the songs on it are just amazing and beautiful and I will always love what I can hear of it. So even with the missing tracks I still highy recommend it to anyone who loves Christmas- and great country music.
"The Best Christmas CD Out There!"
Originally released in 1984 after the pair recorded their mega hit "Islands In The Stream", this album was part of a CBS Holiday special that aired called "A Christmas To Remember" to blockbuster ratings. If your looking for a CD with excellent Christmas songs "Once Upon A Christmas" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton is it. The album has been rereleased over the years by RCA due to the fact that it has high sales every year: the CD has sold over 5 million copies. This particular edition has 9 tracks; the two Kenny Rogers's solos from the original pressing are missing due to a contract clause Rogers had with the label after he departed in which he owns all his solo recordings; in their place is Dolly's "Hard Candy Christmas" from "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas". The album is mainly known for the five beautiful songs Dolly wrote; "With Bells On', "Christmas Without You", "A Christmas To Remember", "I Believe in Santa Claus", and "Once Upon A Christmas". Despite public demand for the special that accompanies this CD there has been no announcement as to whether we will ever see "A Christmas To Remember" on DVD. Pop this little gem, however, into your CD player and enjoy your Holidays with Kenny and Dolly. Miss Parton also has another Holiday album available called "Home For Christmas" from the early '90's and that too is a splendid listen.
Littel Bit Country Christmas CD
Wonderful songs made even better with the two of them singing them together. Love both Dolly's & Kenny's voices.
CD's
I enjoy some of the others too. I bought this for the Hard Candy Christmas song.
Great Item
I was pleased to find that it was here, brand new, on Amazon. Great item - bought it for my mom as she used to listen to this at Christmastime many years ago. .
