AN ALBUM WORTHY OF ALL MUSIC COLLECTIONS
I keep coming back to this album, as it blends the perfect combination of catchy tunes, heart, production, and her trademark STELLAR voice. What can I say? My mom was a huge Linda fan when she was in her prime, and got me hooked when I was a teen in the 80's. It is very true that her voice has the inherent ability to sound authentic, and this is one of those rare albums on which EVERY SONG is fantastic. Songs like "heart like a wheel," "Close your eyes," "You're no good," and "It doesn't matter anymore" are simply unforgettable. The whole album has a breezy, nostalgic feel to it, and it's a pleasure to turn this on anytime, no matter what mood, and no matter where you are (car, house, you name it).

I love her albums during this period, and am very happy to have been introduced at an early age to such an incredible talent. I believe Linda, as displayed amply on this album, has one of the greatest female voices of the last several generations. If you haven't heard this album, YOU MUST. A classic in every sense of the word. .


What a voice!
Back in the 70s I often heard Linda Rondstadt ridiculed because she only recorded songs written by others. Let me start by saying that in order to like a piece of music 2 out of 3 is required of the artist: 1) good voice; 2) good musician; 3) good songwriter. In this particular case this woman has a voice so near perfect that WHO CARES! When you sing this well you are forgiven if you do nothing else. "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" and "Faithless Love" alone are worth the purchase. And if you like this one, check out HASTEN DOWN THE WIND, definitely my second favorite Ronstadt album.


5 star Material, 3 star sound
. I would agree completely with the reviewer below, this Gold Cd does not compare with the disc from the Capitol Years set, there is significant loss of high end resulting in a very muted flat sounding disc, rather like an old vinyl Lp copy.


Linda Ronstadt's gold standard
The choice of material,
musicians, Peter Asher's production, and Ronstadt's own amazing voice were the ingredients that made it
happen. This is Linda Ronstadt's breakthrough album which made her a superstar in the '70s. This Mobile Fidelity gold disc release reveals the music in ways never heard on the original vinyl l. p.
or the standard CD release. More than worth the extra cost.

The album itself is of course a five star album. This review is in reference to the Gold Cd of "Heart Like a Wheel". It's easily the best collection of songs that Ronstadt ever put together for an album. My problem is with the gold cd. The sound quality really is not that good. I have her "Best of the Capitol Years" which has the entire album on it and the sound quality on there is far superior to this gold cd. I pretty much bought this just for the packaging, which is nice, because the "Capitol Years" has scant liner notes. But as far as sound quality don't buy this expecting that the sound is good. Which is surprising because it's HDCD which to me has had a pretty impressive track record. At any rate, I love this album and you should buy it I would say through her "Best of the Capitol Years" which gives you much more bang for your buck.
