Merry Beatmas! As you might expect, some of the songs work better than the others, but it is overall a delight. Wonderful interpretations of Christmas standards by this Beatles tribute band.
They matched the chord changes of Christmas tunes with Beatles favorites and wove them together -- not as medley, but by incorporating the Fab Four's riffs and sounds. The closest comparison would be the Ventures' take on "Sleigh Ride," which begins with the opening riff from "Walk Don't Run," then effortlessly morphs into the title tune.
Absolute best of the bunch: "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree". Play it LOUD!.
A Splendid Christmas For One and All
With a tinge of the Merseybeat sound of the Beatles, listeners will hear the band sing and play to the most memorable Christmas songs that many have grown to love or loathe. XMAS! THE BEATMAS is a fun collection of Christmas tunes as done by the Swedish band, Rubber Band. This is definitely an alternative to the original versions of famous Christmas songs. All the tracks on the CD were a pleasure to hear, and some of the highlights included the jumping "Jingle Bell Rock" played to the melody of "Please Please Please Me" along with the Little Richard-like wails in the background, a one, two, three, four from "I Saw Her Standing There" begins "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," the hilarious "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" is played to the "Taxman" melody, "Mary's Boy Child" is somewhat fitting with its "Nowhere Man" backbeat, and the concluding track, "Silent Night" is done a la "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds. "
Rubber Band's renditions of these holiday classics may delight any die hard Beatles fan or anyone who never grows tired of listening to the sounds of the season with all its versions. And XMAS! THE BEATMAS is recommended for playing during holiday gatherings or while putting the finishing touches to holiday decorating.
Not just an oddity -- it's good music!
This album is just good music. This is one of the stranger albums in my Christmas collection but it has remained a favorite -- even after the novelty has worn off. Especially, of course, if you like the Beatles but even for average fans.

Christmas music,Merseybeat style!
I'd simply like to say that these clever arrangements remind the listener of both the strong durability and flexibility of the songs themselves and the joy brought to us by the musical inventiveness of the Beatles. Other reviews go into great detail about which Beatles songs were used as inspiration for the style of these Christmas songs. For those of us lucky enough to have grown up with their songs as the soundtrack to our lives, the riffs reproduced on this Cd remind us of a magical time that will probably never come again. That the passing of John and George makes this all bittersweet has much in common with many Christmas memories. So for those of you who received Beatles albums for Christmas in your youth and for those youths who have found their way down Abbey Road, here's a celebration of Christmas and the Beatles courtesy of Rubber Band. Have a cup of holiday cheer and don't forget to toast John and George as you listen.
Happy Xmas
It features Christmas songs done in the style of the Beatles. This album is by a Scandanavian Beatles tribute band called Rubber Band (not to be confused with Bootsy's Rubber Band). It is well done and a lot of fun. Beatles fans should get a kick out of it.
