Rush continues to rock after all these years!
I was in Middle School at the time. I have been listening to RUSH since 1983, at which time I fell in love with "Exit Stage Left" and the studio album that preceded it, "Moving Pictures". Throughout the '80s I collected their first 16 albums. In the '90s I continued to listen to the old stuff but I did not purchase any new albums. This is my first purchase of a RUSH recording since the late '80s and I am delighted. I saw RUSH in 2003 and most recently in 2005 and this triple cd captures their excellence in live performance. These guys, after nearly 30 years (at the time of this recording), are still rocking at the top of their game. And, for those die-hard RUSH fans, there are some great old gems such as "Signus X1", which you will be delighted to hear. This is a great recording of one of the best and most innovative bands of ROCK and I recommend it to RUSH lovers and those just getting to know the band. Even the newer stuff is great to listen to. Rock on RUSH!.

Great Band, Bad Recording
This is a horrible recording. I have been a Rush fan for many years and finally decided to purchase Rush In Rio as I wanted a live CD from Rush. The music sounds muddy and vocals get lost. I myself,as others have suggested tried it on different stereos thinking that was the problem but that's not it. I have several other live albums by other bands that were very good. Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous, Jethro Tull Bursting Out, Fleetwood Mac Live to name a few all were good recordings but you can still tell they were live recordings. This one blows. .

Actually benefits from some EQ tweaking
Insane Brazilians. Um but ISN'T THAT THE JOB OF THE ENGINEER?!?!

Insane performance. What else can you expect?.

GREAT BAND, UNFORGIVABLY AWFUL SOUND!
People are not exaggerating when they say this is a horrible recording. Atrocious recording of what should have been a stellar representation of Rush's triumphant return in 2002. I love this band dearly but can't bring myself to listen to this album after many attempts at trying to get into it. It literally hurts my ears. The band actually listened to all the complaints about Rush in Rio and R30 (their next live recording release) is miles improved with Richard Chycki at the helm. Skip this one and wait for Snakes and Arrows Live 2007, which comes out in April 2008. .

An incredible experience
Be it the 15 minute guitar solo in the middle of my favorite song, or the completely different sound than the album version, they have always left me cold. I have never purchased a live album as they just don't trip my trigger.

Throw all of that out the window with Rush in Rio. This is an incredible CD and it flows with an energy unlike any other album I've ever heard. All it will take to prompt you to purchase this is the track "Driven". I heard this track on Pandora (and of course on Test For Echo) and was hooked.

The only drawback is the lack of "Subdivisions", but that's a personal preference.

Reward yourself, and your CD collection, and pick up Rush in Rio---you won't be disappointed!.
