One of my favorite Satriani CDs
It's a two CD set (disk one is a studio disk and disk two is a live disk). Time Machine is one of my favorite Joe Satriani CDs. Disk one has some really unique stuff on it. It would be difficult to pick one track above the others, but the Woodstock Jam is probably my least favorite - it's a little "out there" for me.

But, preview it on the Amazon Sampler - if your a Satriani fan, you will definitely want this CD.

Satriani is The Best
Like others cds this cd is very good and Joe Satriani is a great guitar player, He is a "Wizard".

A Review from A-Non-Shredder-Fan...

This ones much more tasteful, interesting & "non-over-the-top" as many of his others seemed to be. I can't stand "noddling-about" (no offense to those that do), but it just bores me to tears. That's why I myself prefer this Satriani recording to most of his others. It takes you on a journey & it's a nice one IMHO.

Just my 2 cents. . . enjoy.

Fans only

The first three tracks are killers, but from there on the album is an eclectic mix of ideas and psychodelia. Forget the live disc, it's cool, this review focuses only on the studio album. What's most interesting is hearing the different flavours of Joe's previous albums coming through on the different tracks - some of it sounds like "Not of this earth" (not a good thing), and even the best tracks uncannily reference earlier material. The sound and style of "All Alone" could easily have re-titled the track as "The forgotten, part III". Awesome track that it is, "Time Machine" is the sequel to "Flying in a blue dream", considering the similar Lydian melodies.

Some tracks make for uncomfortable listening, and this is definitely one that only fans will enjoy. If you aren't such, try downloading "Time Machine", "Turtle head" and "All alone" separately - you won't regret it.

A great cross-section of the master's work
TM is a great collection, not only for the live versions of familiar songs but for the lesser-known songs from albums I probably will never get around to buying. I've been a Satch fan for a long time but I only have about half of his albums. A great sampling from the greatest musician ever to pick up a six-string.

Recommended.
