Joe Satriani Delivers The Goods!
If you are a fan of virtuosic electric guitar then this is for you! There's plenty of memorable playing/compositions here. Guitarist Joe Satriani decided to concentrate on instrumental recordings and this is an amazing one from him! It came out in 1992 and it was produced by Andy Johns. For example the mixolydian fest "Summer Song", the dark sounding "War", the short composition "Tears In The Rain" with some haunting minor-key arpeggios and the slightly funky "Why". In "Crying" you'll hear Joe playing at his melodic best and in "New Blues" there's some trumpet in addition to the guitar.
This is an excellent album if you are a fan of instrumental guitar music! Highly recommended!
Thanks for taking the time to read!
Later. . . .
a good value for $6.99
99!
As an album, it could lose 2 or 3 songs, but the rest
is fine guitar. got it new for $6. Not a must have, nor an intro, 3 1/2 from me.
Satriani unsaturated
But in the end this album is predictably crushed by an inordinate amount of predictability- simply too much of it sounds too bland in retrospect. 2 1/2
With some decent production, the rock guitar expert manages to breathe a somewhat gritty integrity into a small amount of the blues-rock shredding, excelling of course on a few off-ramp melodic explorations which take him outside the predictable path of merely soloing, if amazingly, over bland riffs. .

i like every track on this cd. this is a really good cd its joe at his best of the nineties in my opinion. the sound is awesome. the music is unique, its a combination of different styles throughout. joe plays really well on this cd. it should be a hit its that good. im glad i own it. its instrumental rock at its finest. on motorcycle driver there is some awesome guitar solos, and summer song as well. this cd is fantastic,i can not say enough about it. .
Good Rock music without singer(s)... Incredible!!!!
I stopped the cassette recorder, asked for the owner of the tape who was this incredible guitar player. I heard years ago, in a "tape recorded" Jam session with friends, the theme "Friends". He answered, "His name is Joe Satriani, but I don't like it very much 'cause he uses no vocals in his music. "
Well, even when this answer was helpful to understand how important the vocals are for Rock music, I discovered that a talented guitar player as Joe Satriani is also very important.
In spite of other opinions, I sincerely recommend this album to all those serious Rock freaks (as myself). . . And obviously, to all those promising guitar players who pretend to understand the real magic, good Rock music has!!! .
