A dream to Andromeda (RATING 4 -1/2)
He may be an instrumental guitar player but my big complaint about his music is his guitar solo parts. And that because Satriani always uses the same formula for his songs. Most times he didn't play enough to join him but some times this tactic is better cause it letting you searching for more of him. So, 4-1/2 because I believe this is the best album of Joe until now! The atmosphere and his marvelous lucid ideas they are really transport you to another dimension. Joe combines his ideas and his favorite guitar sounds to unreachable for Satriani ethos & melodies until now. A full instrumental disc, an excellent companion for travelling or for inspiring. Althrough Crystal Planet is one of his last work and many people believe is nothing more of his classical debute Surfing, Joe always find ways to surpise us. No matter if you first listening to him, Joe Satriani Crystal Planet (especcialy now with the bonus track)is one of the best instrumental guitar albums ever, including a variety of styles like h. rock, blues-fusion phrasing and oriental influences. I wonder myself, which is this Crystal Planet that Satriani voyage with us.

the best
i have all his cds and this on is the best. this is the best that joe has ever done.

brilliance mixed with boredom
That's why it's hard for me to give any of his albums three stars. I'm a true Satch fan. OK, let me explain. Some of the songs are among his best (House of Bullets, Rasberry Jam Delta, Ceremony) but some of the songs leave you asking: What was the whole point of that? (Piece of Liquid, Psycho Monkey, Z. Z. 's Song) I guess I'm saying it's a very uneven album that you can't play from start to finish like you could with "Surfing" or "Flying". If you've never bought a Satriani CD before, don't start with this one. But if you are a true Satch fan like I am, you should add this one to your collection.

Joe once again shows us what a true musical genius he is!
He is unlike any guitar player out there- and considering he started playing the day Jimmi Hendrix died, I think that shows just what kind of indivdual he is. Even if you never heard anything by Joe Satriani, once you heard him you will be hooked. Joe is the ULTIMATE in guitar players as far as I am concerned. Once you have heard him you won't be able to get his catchy ballads out of your head. He is like an addiction - always wanting more. Wonderful CD to own!.
