Ska is no more. Ska music faded into oblivion by 2000 and this talented band never had a chance to shine. Save Ferris second cd, Modified was doomed to fail. I like some of the tracks but I don't LOVE them to pieces. Mistaken and Let Me In are excellent break-up songs but their sound is limited. Save Ferris showed a lot of promise with their debut, It Means Everything but some things can't last. I am sorry to say this album was not golden.
Wish I could give it more stars
I'm not even a big fan of the genre. Modified is one of my favorite cds of all time. Every song on the cd is incredible. A lot of times people buy a cd to get one good song, well every song on this cd could be that one song (except one more try being one minute long). This cd is fun, fast, and brilliant. Monique's voice is one of the best voices I've ever heard. The music on every track is awesome and very well produced. Every song is a stand-out track, but Let Me In is phenomenonal. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS, IF NOT THE BEST SONG, EVER WRITTEN, PERIOD. Let Me In is an epic ballad that sounds nothing like anything Save Ferris has done. If you can't feel the emotion coming from Monique's voice (Brian Mashburn, the guitarist, wrote the song) you my friend have no soul and are a horrible human being. That one song should be enough reason if you do not have this cd to get away from your computer, go to your local record store and buy the cd immediately. That song and this cd is that good. It just sucks that Save Ferris isn't making music no more.
Perfect for the Heartbroken
I have 2 main reasons for loving this band: 1) Monique Powell's amazing vocals and 2) I'm trying to forget someone who really let me down; the music lifts my spirits and the lyrics just echo my thoughts, or at least what I should be thinking. Ever known a band for ages yet not gotten into them till one day something happens, you listen to a song and suddenly you're hooked? That's how I feel about Save Ferris.
Contrarily, the best song on this album for me is "Let Me In" (I say contrarily because it's not something the heartbroken should be listening to). If you need to move on, this is perfect for you.
All-round Great
Modified gives the listener a taste of different music, from Turn It Up's upbeat ska-pop to Let Me In's extremely touching style. Although many compare this album to their debut (and ultimately find it disappointing), I think it has turned out to be an all-round better piece of work. All around, shows that the group can be versatile, and has the best of their songs.
The best
You can work out to it, dance to it, realate to it, sing along,(I could go on forever). This is the ultimate everything CD. Modified is energy, power, fun, great vocals, and music packed in one and you don't often find CDs like this. It starts off with a bang: 'Turn it up' which is exactly what songs on this CD have become to me. The songs are just pure fun and you'll never find another CD like this. Monique Powell's voice is just awesome. . . no one else can sing like her. She's got a strong, happy, and undescibably good voice. The bonus track is wonderful too. Just wait a minute or so after the CD ends. . . you'll be so glad you did. Use your head and get this CD! You'll be mad at yourself that you didn't buy this sooner, so get shoppin'!.
