Age is no obstacle for this slab of classic metal
Like other metal giants like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Saxon, even with a few lineup changes, delivers molten rock hard enough to satisfy fans of the newer metal like Shadows Fall or Arch Enemy, and yet bridges the gap with more traditional metal, including real guitar riffs that most bands today don't seem to be able to construct, opting instead for hammering away at a "D" chord over and over. Saxon are alive and well for thirty years now, and for a good reason.
"The Inner Sanctum" has plenty of great tracks, including the title track and "Let Me Feel Your Power", which ought to do any metalhead justice.
Paul Quinn and Biff Byford remain from the original line-up, and while the sound has morphed over the years, the love of good ol' metal is still present, which allows this venerable outfit to stay in business much longer than posuers of the '80's hair bands did. Also, the bonus live DVD is a nice touch with Saxon giving fine workouts to some older material during a club tour and a few interviews thrown in.
Here's hoping for several more fine albums from a likeable buncha blokes.

Lemmyrules1

Wish the Song I got to Rock was the Lemmy and Angry version. Good effort by one of the most enduring bands.

That is the only thing keeping it from 5 Stars.

unbelievable cd
This one stands out as probably the best of the best. I've heard some of Saxon's albums back in the 80-s. The vocals and instrumental arrangements sound more powerful than on Iron Maiden recent releases.
Most of the songs are very well crafted. Definitely a great achievement from a great band. Too bad these guys never got due recognition in the US.
On this CD they proved again they can really rock!.

Saxon Continues on!
Well in some ways, it's just as good and in others, not so much. Being that I have come back to this band after about a 10 year or more absence, I was hopeful this release would be as amazing as Killing Ground was. The sound is again pure classic metal, Saxon style, but the catchy riffs found on Killing Ground are not as prevalent here. It does have some really good tunes, but it's not as good a listen as Killing Ground was which is a little disappointing. It's still a fine listen, I just wish it was as more catchy overall as Killing Ground was.

The DVD has some cool live footage of Saxon doing their thing live and gives you another perspective of what these guys are about.

Overall it's a good cd, but nothing outstanding. I still they can do better, but am still happy they are indeed still around! .
