Amazing Boz!
I love all his works. I had everything that Boz had ever done, except this CD. But after hearing the music, words and emotions of these songs, I have to say it is the best Boz collection ever. I'll be ordering a second one just in case I wear this one out and it happens to become unavailable like so much of his music. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to listen to great music.

CD
Had it before and lost it. Good album. Was good enough to buy again.

Three great cuts - rest filler

Nathan East on bass, Kevin Bents on Rhpdes Piano, and yes, Mr. "Fly Like A Bird" is an instant keeper; as has been noted, a sing-a-long, I'm not sure what about; also a showcase (the whole CD is) for the awesome talent of Boz Scaggs, singer, songwriter, musician all over the place, singing harmony with himself, playing guitar, synths, maybe even a keyboard or two. Booter T. "B-3" Jones on two cuts. He isn't featured as anthing more than support, but it's a Classic vibration that's produced (on the title soing and "Sierra").
The next best track is "Lost It", a melancholy introspection, beautifully arranged and produced. "Illusion" is on a par with said song, though adding a touch of mystery.
The closer, "Follow That Man", is about. . uh. . Rush Limbaugh?. . . Peter Jennings?. . . Ralph Nader?. . . . can't make heads or tails of this one. And the metronomic beat doesn't help.
Some folks say this was a welcome return to form after a Disco detour. There's nothing here as cool as "Lido Shuffle". .

Got my Boz fix
I was happy. I got what I ordered. I'll order again.

Fine singing, song writing, and guitar playing
Although this recording does not have the edginess of his earlier works it also does not delve into the schmaltz that pervades his "But Beautiful, Standards: Volume 1. Among the latter day releases by Boz Scaggs, "Some Change" is one of his better efforts. "

What "Some Change" has going for it is Mr. Scaggs' fine singing, song writing, and guitar playing. His voice floats in and above the music, never harsh. This batch of songs reflects life and its changes through the prism of a good wordsmith. Sometimes things may get a tad sappy, but that comes with the terrain. Finally, Mr. Scaggs handles the guitar quite ably throughout this set, sometimes cutting loose like the Boz of old, but always displaying finesse.

All in all, things are a bit slicker and smoother than I typically like, but this CD goes well with a solo car trip or a rainy day.
