Intoxicating Perfection00 for it had I not had your assurances that it was worth the extra money. A big THANK YOU to all you reviewers for sharing your positive comments about this gem of a CD, because I wouldn't have wanted to pay $49. And, yes, it IS worth every penny--and much more. I received the CD 3 days ago and have been playing it over and over. The performance and the arrangement are so refreshing and intoxicating that I've been taking the CD everywhere with me--so I can play it in the car and in the office. (How could your heart not melt when listening to "Some Things Happen"?) As soon as I receive a few other Boz Scaggs CDs released post Middle Man, I will take a long drive in my new car. Life is good when Boz is back in it after all these years.
Worth every penny spent, every second listening
It's perfect. It's pricey. How simple is that? Quit reading this and click on the purchase button. You'll be glad.
boz unplugged
the new renditions are a pleasant take on songs originally cut about 20 years from their inception. for those of you who were looking for another version of his music, this is it. of course, he gives his jazz interpretations on lowdown, harbor lights, and we're all alone, but he also choose simone from middle man. boz produced this and added three fine new cuts. some of you will recognize just go from his retrospective cd.
if there was one slight disappointment, it was the remix of i'll be the one. it's apparent that he did not revise the vocals, but was re-engineered to an unsatisfactory conclusion. otherwise, a great addition to your collection.
Fade into View
Having just received the Japan import, this 1996 CD is a true gem. The one cut on this album included in the anthology is just a tease.
The sparse instrumentation, coupled with several new arrangements of old Boz hits, makes for a very soulful listening experience. With songs included from at least 3 decades, I too am at a loss as to why this wasn't released in the U. S.
After seeing Boz in concert last fall (the DIG tour), we wondered about the "laid back" attitude of the show in general, and the arrangements of the "disco" songs in particular(not to mention the lack of songs from "Come On Home" performed live). "Fade Into Light" helps explain the trasition and the progression of Boz's music since he started on Virgin.
Very excellent addition to your Boz collection. Please keep 'em coming Mr. Scaggs!.
Wow!
I can't believe this wasn't worthy of domestic distribution. Expensive and worth it.
